About Hudson River Park Trust
Hudson River Park is a dynamic, public park along the West Side of Manhattan that spans four miles from Chambers Street to West 59th Street. The Park welcomes millions of visitors annually, with its distinct, landscaped piers and a wide range of public amenities including gardens, lawn areas, athletic fields, boating docks, public art and other special features. The Park was established by New York State legislation in 1998 that created the Hudson River Park Trust (“the Trust”) and charged it with the design, construction, maintenance and operation of this unique space that also includes a 400-acre Estuarine Sanctuary.
The Trust is a public benefit corporation and 501(c)(3) charitable organization that is financially self-supporting, generating its annual operating expenses from select commercial uses and concessions located within the Park’s boundaries. This funding model sustains the Trust’s operations and ongoing Park maintenance, ensuring that it remains a vital community asset to enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors alike. The Trust employs a passionate staff of 90 full-time with experience in parks, design, programming, finance, marine science, public policy, operations and maintenance.
JOB SUMMARY
The Seasonal Operations Associate will provide park-wide operations support as it pertains to inter-departmental logistical and event support while conducting inspections of safety equipment, including fire extinguishers, life rings, and first aid/PPE supplies. The associate is responsible for maintaining OSHA compliance, managing work zone safety, and reporting hazards to ensure a secure environment for all park visitors and staff. Experience in operations and/or safety management is preferred but not required. Must be capable of collaborating with other departments. Adherence to agency uniform policy Is required.
Essential JOB RESPONSIBILITES/Functions
Operations
- Coordinate with the Maintenance, Facilities, IT, Horticulture, and Events teams for any maintenance, operational, or event support needs.
- Perform and document pre and post event inspections for internal and external events.
Safety & Maintenance Compliance
- Perform weekly inspections of all life rings; replace missing, damaged, or out-of-service units immediately.
- Conduct monthly inspections of all fire extinguishers across Hudson River Park property; replace units as needed.
- Perform monthly inspections of first aid cabinets and replenish supplies to ensure OSHA compliance.
- Perform monthly inspections on sharps stations and replenish as needed. Ability to safely secure and transport sharp and sharps containers following standard protocols.
- Assist in coordinating safety throughout the park and bikeway, including the setup of work zones and detours.
- Report all issues to the appropriate department and secure the area as needed till site condition is resolved.

Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of one year in event coordination or public safety.
- Experience in facility inspections or safety auditing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Windows OS.
- Valid Driver’s License required.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- Ability to perform labor-intensive tasks and walk/move in various outdoor weather conditions for extended periods.
- Proposed work schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Must work Pride weekend (6/27 – 6/28) and Fourth of July weekend (7/3 – 7/5).
COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE
$20.00- $25.00 per hour depending on experience, M-F 8:00AM to 4:30 PM (with a half-hour unpaid lunch), occasional weekend work and extra hours and/or overtime as needed. This is a seasonal, temporary position.
