Reports To: Production Manager

Classification: Hourly Non-Exempt (paid overtime)

Responsible for leading assigned employees to achieve production goals. Responsible for the quality and quantity of production from the operation of equipment by assigned employees.

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must demonstrate proficient performance of all Class A, Class B, and Class C Heat Treat Operator essential duties.

1. Perform all duties of Class A Heat Treat Operator.
2. Provide direction to Class A, Class B, and Class C Heat Treat Operators.
3. Instruct trainees, Class A, Class B, and Class C Heat Treat Operators, and inspectors in their duties, teaching and coaching them to improve quality and quantity of production.
4. Assist management in meeting testing schedules and maintaining quality.
5. Regularly check the accuracy of both hours worked and pieces completed for each production order.
6. Monitor shipping and receiving activities.
7. Wear personal protective equipment and follow safety instructions as required.
8. Perform other duties as assigned.

• Must be able to lift 50 lb. parts and other items from floor to waist on an occasional basis while protecting lifted items from damage.
• Must be able to stand for several consecutive hours without rest, with frequent bending and reaching.
• Must be able to tolerate a hot work environment, even at times when summer outdoor temperatures combine with residual heat from furnaces.
• Must be able to walk within and between areas constantly and climb stairs occasionally.

• Must be able to communicate effectively by both written and oral means.
• Must be able to work independently with minimal daily supervision.
• Must be able to understand and reliably carry out extensive and detailed process instructions.
• Must be able to read, interpret and take appropriate action in response to data from gages, alarms, sensors and other devices.
• Must be able to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions.
• Must be able to effectively deal with personnel concerns or problems.
• Must be able to provide effective leadership and performance monitoring of staff.
