Fluid Control Technician

Fluid Control Technician
The Fluid Control Technician is responsible for operating vacuum dehydrator and filtration units as part of the DWS preventative maintenance program. This role includes collecting fluid samples from DWS equipment, rebuilding hydraulic pumps, and verifying rebuild integrity using DWS pump testing and flow test equipment. The position supports both shop and field operations and plays a critical role in maintaining hydraulic system performance across the fleet.

Skills & Abilities
Education: High School Diploma, GED or equivalent

Experience:
Minimum: 1+ year in oil and gas with strong mechanical and hydraulic aptitude
Preferred: 2+ years in the oil and gas industry; 2+ years conducting solids control as part of preventative maintenance programs

General understanding of industrial hydraulic and mechanical principles.
Experience operating vacuum dehydrators, filtration systems, centrifuges, and related fluid control equipment preferred.
Computer skills including Microsoft Office applications required.

Other Requirements: Must have a valid driver's license, meet minimum driving requirements for company insurance purposes, and successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.

Duties
Operate vacuum dehydrators, centrifuges, filtration systems, pumps, tanks, generators, and related fluid control equipment.
Travel to active field locations to filter hydraulic systems and remain onsite for extended periods (up to 14 hours).
Collect, compile, and complete operational daily reports and fluid samples.
Rebuild hydraulic pumps and verify rebuild integrity using DWS pump testing equipment (flow testing pumps).
Execute startup, shutdown, and operating procedures for compressors, dehydrators, electric motors, pumps, instrumentation panels, valves, manifolds, and flow test equipment.
Perform or assist in rigging activities, troubleshooting equipment, preventative maintenance, repairs, daily safety checks, and monitor solids control activities.
Manage spare parts and equipment inventory for vacuum dehydrator systems.
Prepare maintenance reports, evaluate equipment installation for misapplication, and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.
Gather operating data to optimize equipment performance and review reports to detect changes in system parameters.
Maintain clear communication with supervisors and follow all DWS and OEM procedures, including HSQE standards.
Understand 500-hour service procedures and provide training to field personnel when needed.
Other projects and duties as assigned by management.

Position Details
FLSA Status: Exempt
Job Status: Full-time with rotational schedule
Amount of Travel Required: 50
Reports to: Basin-Specific Maintenance Manager
Direct Reports: None
Work Schedule: 28/14 Rotational. Predominantly field.
