Reports To: Chief Financial Officer

The Opportunity
Aurex is a rapidly growing, mission-focused national security and space technology company serving the U.S. Department of War, U.S. Space Force, NASA, Intelligence Community, and Commercial Space customers.
The company is seeking a seasoned Vice President of Contracts to serve as a key executive leader responsible for enterprise-wide contract and subcontract strategy, , governance oversight, and risk management.
This is a strategic growth leadership position responsible for enabling expansion of Aurex and all its legal entities across major federal and commercial contract vehicles and classified programs while protecting enterprise value, margin, and compliance posture.
The VP of Contracts will be a trusted advisor to the CFO and executive leadership team, partnering closely with Business Development, Capture, Program Management, Security, and Finance.
Mission of the Role
The VP of Contracts will:
- Drive enterprise contract strategy aligned with aggressive growth objectives in DoW, Space, and Intelligence markets
- Support leadership and Business Development in the formation of strategy and execution for large IDIQs, GWACs, BPAs, OTAs, JVs, and multi-award vehicles
- Oversee prime contracts, subcontracts, and enterprise Terms & Conditions governance, while also seeking to support broader teaming, partnering, channel and consortium agreements
- Serve as executive SME for FAR/DFARS, classified contracting, and regulatory compliance
- Assist the CFO in broader corporate legal governance matters
- Manage and optimize relationships with external legal counsel
Scope of Responsibility
Federal & Intelligence Market Leadership
Direct oversight of contracting activities supporting:
- Department of War (Army, Navy, Air Force, OSD)
- U.S. Space Force
- Special Operations Command (SOCOM)
- NASA (civil and national security space)
- GSA contract vehicles (OASIS, Polaris, MAS, ASTRO, Alliant, etc.)
- Intelligence Community (FBI, NRO, NSA, NGA, DIA, and related agencies)
The executive will bring demonstrated experience securing and administering high-value prime contracts and major multi-award vehicles.
Enterprise Contract Strategy
- Establish and execute a scalable contracting strategy aligned with corporate growth plans
- Structure and negotiate complex prime contracts, IDIQs, OTAs, subcontracts, and teaming agreements
- Lead contract type strategy (FFP, CPFF, CPAF, T&M, hybrid structures)
- Guide risk allocation, pricing structure implications, and margin protection
Subcontracts & Supply Chain Contract Governance
- Lead enterprise subcontract management strategy
- Oversee FAR/DFARS flow-down compliance
- Manage subcontract risk, disputes, and performance challenges
- Align subcontracting approach with prime contract obligations and financial objectives
Company Terms & Conditions (T&Cs)
- Own and standardize enterprise contract templates and negotiation frameworks
- Protect intellectual property, data rights, and margin position
- Ensure consistency between commercial and government compliance obligations
- Develop scalable contract playbooks and internal guidance
Corporate Legal Governance & CFO Partnership
- Serve as primary contractual advisor to the CFO
- Support corporate governance initiatives and risk mitigation strategy
- Assist CFO in managing outside legal counsel across government contracting, export compliance, corporate, and regulatory matters
- Support M&A due diligence and strategic partnerships
Compliance & Regulatory Leadership
- Ensure compliance with FAR, DFARS, ITAR, EAR, CMMC, CPSR and classified contract requirements
- Interface with DCAA, DCMA, and other oversight and regulating bodies
- Maintain audit readiness across the enterprise
- Support mandatory disclosure obligations when required
Organizational Leadership
- Build and scale a high-performing Contracts & Subcontracts organization
- Establish KPIs aligned with growth, risk reduction, and operational efficiency
- Mentor and develop contracts professionals in a high-performance culture
Profile of the Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will bring:
- 15+ years of progressive U.S. Government contracting experience
- 7+ years in senior contracts leadership (leading a company) within a defense, space, or national security organization
- Deep expertise in FAR, DFARS, and classified contracting environments
- Demonstrated success with large IDIQ vehicles and GWACs
- Experience negotiating directly with U.S. Government Contracting Officers
- Proven ability to balance competitive growth objectives with disciplined risk management
- Experience managing subcontract organizations and enterprise T&Cs
- Experience coordinating and managing external legal counsel
- Strong financial acumen (revenue recognition, indirect rates, margin protection)
- Executive-level communication and board interaction capability
Education: Bachelor’s degree required; JD and/or Master’s preferred
Certifications: CPCM, CFCM, or equivalent preferred
Security Clearance: Active clearance strongly preferred (must be eligible for clearance)
