The Opportunity: As a Personal Trainer for the Downers Grove Park District, you'll have the opportunity to inspire and guide clients on their fitness journeys. You will be responsible for planning and implementing the personal training protocol and procedures for all clients. You will have the opportunity to work with teens and adults with various ages and fitness levels, and create individualized exercise sessions for clients. The Personal Trainer is responsible for assisting clients in obtaining their fitness goals through safe, effective exercise programs. As a member of our dynamic fitness team, you will play a significant role in helping clients reach their goals.
What you get: In exchange for your time and talent, this Part-time Class II position pays $30 - $33 per hour, and includes a free Fitness Membership at 4500 Fitness.
When you'll work:
You will be able to enjoy the flexibility of creating your own schedule. Although you have the freedom to set your hours, availability on nights and weekends is required to accommodate client's needs and ensure that we can cater to a diverse range of schedules.
Where you'll work: All training sessions take place at 4500 Fitness.

A Day in the Life:
- Create and implement safe and effective exercise programs for a wide range of individuals.
- Provide fitness equipment orientations for new members.
- Provide sessions for our Teen Fitness program.
- Proactively reaching out to clients to schedule training sessions.
- Managing and maintaining scheduled appointments with clients.
- Actively market, promote, and advertise personal training services.
- Devise personalized exercise routines and activities tailored to each client's fitness goals and needs.
- Remain current with fitness trends, programs, and training.
- Attend district staff meetings and trainings.
- Ensure all Park District's safety policies are being followed and implemented
About you:
- 21 years of age or older
- Self-motivated
- Specific emphasis on Personal Training from a recognized institute (such as NPTI – National Personal Training Institute) and/or BA or BS in Health/Fitness fields and/or nationally accredited certification (A.C.E., A.C.S.M., or equivalent).
- Can successfully work independently and part of a team to achieve assigned goals
- Must possess at least 2-3 years of experience in personal training.
- Knowledge of basic nutrition and the well-being of health/mind/body.
- Experience in teaching the use of exercise equipment required.
- Possess excellent teaching skills.
- Ability to provide a high level of customer service to clients
- Able to maintain positive and effective working relationships with other employees, participants and the public
- Remain current with fitness trends, programs, and training.
- Can stay composed in periods of high activity and in emergencies
- Strong problem solving and communication skills
- Able to adapt to changes in environment and program structure
- Current CPR/AED/First Aid certification or ability to become certified by the Park District within one month of employment.
