About This Position

Midwest Co-op is currently accepting resumes for the position of Warehouse Operator. Under the direction of the Agronomy Location Manager, the Warehouse Operator safely performs all warehouse, inventory, and facility support functions. This role is suited for individuals with foundational warehouse experience who are developing advanced competencies in material handling, equipment operation, inventory processes, and customer service. The Warehouse Associate works with limited supervision, operates most material handling equipment inside and outside the facility, and supports receiving, storage, order fulfillment, yard work, and inventory activities while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, compliance, and professionalism.


SUPERVISION AND LEADERSHIP

  • Provides on‑the‑job guidance and informal mentorship to new hires and seasonal staff.
  • May occasionally assist with training team members on equipment operation, warehouse procedures, and safe handling practices.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

MATERIAL HANDLING & FACILITY OPERATION

  • Operates forklifts, pallet jacks, skid steers, and other warehouse equipment as needed.
  • Operates single‑axle or light‑tandem straight trucks following company procedures and safety requirements where license class allows.
  • Performs and records required pre‑operation inspections; follows preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Loads, unloads, organizes, and moves products throughout the warehouse and yard.
  • Maintains clean, safe, and well‑organized warehouse, yard, and equipment areas.
  • Practices safe material handling and equipment operation in varying facility and weather conditions.

RECEIVING, STORAGE &INVENTORY CONTROL

  • Receives incoming goods by verifying bills of lading, identifying shortages, damages, or discrepancies.
  • Stores and rotates products following inventory and safety guidelines.
  • Assists with physical inventory counts, cycle counts, pre‑listing, and inter‑location transfers.
  • Ensures proper labeling, documentation, and staging of products for storage or shipment.
  • Performs basic product quality checks and reports any issues promptly.

ORDER FUFULLMENT & SHIPPING SUPPORT

  • Picks, packs, and prepares customer and internal orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Loads outgoing shipments in compliance with safety, weight distribution, and company guidelines.
  • Ensures accurate documentation including packing slips, shipping tickets, and load sheets.
  • Collaborates with drivers and dispatch to ensure timely order completion and delivery readiness.

SAFETY COMPLIANCE & DOCUMENTATION

  • Completes required documentation such as receiving logs, shipping records, inventory forms, and equipment checklists.
  • Ensures all licenses, certifications, inspection documents, and regulatory paperwork are maintained.
  • Complies with WHMIS, OHSA, environmental regulations, and all company policies.
  • Wears required PPE, reports hazards, and follows safe operating, lockout/tagout, and emergency procedures.


CUSTOMER SERVICE & BRANCH SUPPORT

  • Provides courteous, professional service when interacting with customers, drivers, and vendors.
  • Supports branch operations including facility housekeeping, yard work, and assisting other departments during peak seasons.
  • Contributes to strong teamwork, operational efficiency, and cross‑department collaboration.


OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Follow all health and safety requirements under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), including using required protective equipment, following safety procedures, and reporting any potential hazards.
  • Follow all company personnel policies, including expectations related to training, performance, and conduct.
  • Participate in required MCS training such as Ministry of Labour courses, Health & Safety Standards, Policies, and AODA accessibility training.
  • Work cooperatively with approved contractors and follow all related safety procedures when contractors are on site.
  • Maintain any required licenses, certifications, or regulatory requirements needed for your role.
  • Perform other assigned duties as assigned.


REQUIREMENTS

  • Highschool diploma or equivalent required.
  • Class G or DZ driver’s license.
  • Must be at least 25 years of age and have a minimum of 3 years experience with class of driver’s license required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain certifications such as forklift, WHMIS, and TDG.
  • Strong attention to safety and detail.
  • Customer service focus and willingness to learn new processes.
  • Ability to lift materials within company and regulatory limits.


WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Primarily works outdoors, in yards, warehouses, or vehicle settings in all weather conditions.
  • Frequent exposure to dust, fumes, fertilizers, chemicals, agricultural odours, and equipment noise.
  • Exposure to varied road, field, and weather conditions; loading and mixing may occur outdoors.
  • Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 25 kg.
  • Occasional extended hours may be required during seasonal peak periods.
