About This Position
POSITION OVERVIEW/GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
SER-Jobs for Progress is a non-profit community base organization that provides education, training,
financial, and employment services. The position is for Drywall Instructor. The performance goals,
objectives and deliverables of this position will be defined by the CPO, by the agency mission, the
objectives of the program, and through communication with the source(s) of funding for the program.
Under the general supervision of the CPO,responsible for meeting all performance goals of the division.
This position is responsible for all document compliance and day-to-day operation logistics in the training
department. They will be working closely with the Training Instructors to make sure that all training and
credentialing outcomes were successfully met.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide classroom instruction and hands-on training to a variety of individuals with substantially
different educational, life experiences and barriers. Adapt teaching methods to meet students’
varying needs and abilities.
Develop and utilize curricula that reflects program requirements and industry standards.
Provide instruction on proper safety procedures, regulations, and best practices for the work
place.
Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time
that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.
Observe and evaluate students’ work to determine progress and make suggestions for
improvement as described in the training objectives for each workshop or class.
Prepare classroom, order materials for class activities, organize and track learning tools.
Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by SERJobs and communicate
outcomes to program staff associated with each student. Manage the learning environment
through keeping accurate attendance records, hours of training, performance, and skills
achievement throughout training and enforcing SERJobs expectations and attendance policies.
Contributes to a learning culture by participating on curriculum and system committees,
supporting local campus events such as orientation and graduation, and participating in various
other workshops and meetings.
Relates professional/industry experience to learning by the continuation of professional/technical
skills development, the introduction of industry perspective into courses and the active awareness
of professional/industry trends and opportunities.
Assist in making recommendations to the training coordinator regarding curriculum additions,
deletions, or revisions.

Stay current on developments regarding instructional methodology particularly supplemental,
blended and related instructional theories.
Work with program staff to ensure program goals are being met.
Attend staff meetings and serve on committees, as required.
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Deep knowledge of drywall installation, including measuring, cutting, hanging, taping, and
finishing.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and project specifications.
Excellent interpersonal and safety skills, including c with a customer service mentality.
Excellent written, verbal communication, organizational and administrative skills.
Computer literate in Microsoft Office and electronic communication.
Able to work with only general direction and with minimal supervision.
Ability to safely deliver contextual training in a classroom and in an On-The-Job setting to up to
twenty students.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers,
clients, customers, and the general public. Interact and maintain good working relationships with
individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
Ability to maintain compliance and maintain accurate documentation.
Results driven and detailed oriented.
Must be able to handle information in a confidential matter.
Willingness to engage in continuous learning and training.
Carry out multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Effectively manage time.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk
and/or hear. The employee is required to stand, use hands and fingers, handle, or feel objects,
tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and stand on a ladder.
Ability to handle noise level: in the work environment the level is usually moderate to noisy
