In this role, you will lead complex renewable energy and infrastructure investments, driving transaction execution and portfolio management from origination through closing. You will work closely with developers, sponsors, and investors to structure, negotiate, and execute tax equity and preferred equity investments. This position requires balancing detailed financial analysis with relationship management, presenting investment opportunities to committees, and collaborating with Legal, Tax, and Risk teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. You will mentor junior team members, leverage technology and AI tools to streamline workflows, and contribute to strategic growth initiatives in a fast-paced, high-impact environment. The role is ideal for professionals who combine strong technical expertise with exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
Accountabilities:- Lead execution of tax equity and preferred equity transactions, including negotiation with sponsors, investors, and external advisors.
- Prepare and present investment opportunities to Investment Committees, highlighting economics, structural terms, risks, and mitigants.
- Oversee and review financial models, providing guidance on assumptions, sensitivities, and risk scenarios.
- Collaborate with Legal, Tax, and Risk teams to ensure compliance with IRS rules, safe harbor tests, and recapture protections.
- Manage client relationships with both developers/sponsors and investors, ensuring clear communication and smooth execution.
- Support business development by identifying opportunities to scale programmatic relationships with high-quality sponsors and investors.
- Mentor and train junior team members on modeling, execution, and investment best practices.
- Utilize technology and AI-enabled tools to streamline diligence, negotiations, and committee preparation.
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field; advanced degrees (MBA, JD) are a plus.
- 68+ years of experience in renewable energy, structured finance, or infrastructure investing, with direct tax equity transaction leadership.
- Demonstrated experience negotiating complex transaction documents including partnership flips, T-flips, preferred equity, and sale-leaseback structures.
- Strong financial modeling and analytical skills, with the ability to review and validate partnership and investment models.
- Deep knowledge of IRS requirements, safe harbor rules, allocation methodologies, and recapture provisions.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple transactions simultaneously in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- FINRA SIE, Series 79, and 63 required or willingness to obtain under broker-dealer sponsorship.
- Proficiency or interest in leveraging technology and AI to enhance investment execution and portfolio management.
