Status: Seasonal/Full-time/Non-Exempt
2026 Season: Availability until October 26, 2026 needed. This position typically works Saturday and Sunday and has two days off during the week back-to-back.

Yellowstone Forever (YF) is the official nonprofit partner of Yellowstone National Park, working to protect, preserve, and enhance the park through education and philanthropy. By connecting people to Yellowstone through high-quality educational programs and visitor experiences, YF inspires a lifelong appreciation for the park’s natural wonders, wildlife, and cultural history. YF supports the park through partnerships with the National Park Service and operates Park Stores, the Yellowstone Forever Institute, and a robust supporter program.
Position Summary
The Tribal Center Coordinator is a key position supporting Tribal education and engagement initiatives at the Yellowstone Tribal Heritage Center (YTHC), a cornerstone effort to honor and amplify Native American voices in Yellowstone National Park. This initiative highlights the work of Tribal artists, scholars, and cultural demonstrators, creating opportunities for visitors to engage with Yellowstone’s Indigenous heritage in meaningful and transformative ways.
The Tribal Center Coordinator plays a pivotal role in ensuring the success of the YTHC’s operations by managing logistics, coordinating Tribal guest presenters, and facilitating exceptional visitor experiences. This position serves as a vital link between presenters, visitors, Yellowstone Forever staff, and National Park Service personnel, ensuring that the center operates efficiently and remains a welcoming and inclusive space for all.
Additionally, this role contributes to the future success of the YTHC by assisting in the planning and preparation of programs for the following season. This includes developing presenter applications, coordinating schedules, and supporting the strategic goals of Tribal engagement initiatives. Through this work, the Tribal Center Coordinator fosters understanding, connection, and appreciation for Yellowstone’s cultural diversity while building bridges between communities and park visitors.
Primary Responsibilities
Presenter Coordination and Support
- Greet and orient Tribal presenters to the Old Faithful area, including housing arrangements, fostering a welcoming, professional atmosphere.
- Coordinate all arrival and departure logistics for presenters, ensuring their needs are met for a seamless and positive experience.
- Provide direct support to presenters, including covering shifts as needed to ensure a consistent and professional presence at the center.
- Assist presenters with program delivery, ensuring presentation spaces and visitor engagement areas remain tidy, organized, and conducive to a positive visitor experience.
- Ensure presenter housing is cleaned, prepared, and stocked for incoming artists; report any repair or maintenance needs promptly.
Visitor Engagement and Exhibit Maintenance
- Interact with visitors to communicate the mission and goals of the Yellowstone Tribal Heritage Center and Tribal education initiatives, answering general park orientation questions as needed.
- Facilitate visitor understanding of Tribal history, culture, and contributions to Yellowstone through conversations, exhibits, and engagement activities.
- Maintain exhibit spaces, information desks, and visitor recharge areas, ensuring they are clean, organized, and accessible.
Program Coordination and Future Planning
- Assist in planning and preparing for the following season by developing and managing presenter applications, schedules, and logistical documents.
- Support the logistics of the YTHC by ensuring effective program coordination and readiness for each season.
- Track and collect feedback from presenters, sharing insights, successes, and recommendations with the Tribal Engagement Manager to inform program improvements and long-term planning.
- Maintain program inventory and collaborate with the Tribal Engagement Manager to ensure necessary supplies are available and reordered as needed.
Support for Tribal Engagement Initiatives
- Assist the Tribal Engagement Manager with broader Tribal engagement efforts beyond the Yellowstone Tribal Heritage Center, including supporting Tribal programs, events, and special projects as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
- Demonstrated commitment to Tribal engagement and cultural representation, with an understanding of the importance of fostering meaningful connections between Tribal communities and public audiences.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and respectfully with diverse audiences, including Tribal presenters, visitors, and staff.
- Proven ability to foster a welcoming and collaborative environment, promoting mutual respect and inclusivity.
- Solution-oriented mindset with the ability to anticipate challenges, address issues constructively, and adapt to dynamic circumstances.
- Experience working in visitor engagement or educational settings, including the ability to communicate complex topics in an accessible and engaging way.
- Ability to lift boxes/equipment weighing up to 40 pounds and work outdoors in variable weather conditions.
- Self-motivated with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Proficiency with standard computer applications, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and the ability to quickly learn new software systems.
- Ability to represent Yellowstone Forever and the National Park Service in a courteous and professional manner, promoting safety and a positive visitor experience.
- A satisfactory criminal background check as a condition of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with Tribal presenters, artists, or educators.
- Knowledge of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, including its cultural and ecological significance.
- Experience planning and managing program logistics, including scheduling and application processes.
- Familiarity with Tribal cultural protocols and the ability to respectfully support Tribal perspectives.
- Previous experience working in a fast-paced visitor center or similar environment.
- Experience in nonprofit or cultural engagement settings, including supporting education and outreach programs.
- Strong computer skills, including experience with database management, scheduling systems, and online applications.
