Summary

Our blending operators set up, operate, and tend post-blending machines to mix or blend pelleted plastic. Operate fork trucks to transfer material to and from the departments and in and out of semi-trucks. Read work orders specifications.

Essential Functions

  • Adheres to WMC’s quality management system.
  • Weigh or measure materials, ingredients, or products to ensure standard quality specifications and requirements.
  • Read work orders to determine production specifications or information.
  • Observe production or monitor equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Mix or blend material by starting machines and mixing for specified times.
  • Distribute specified amounts of materials into machinery or equipment.
  • Operate or tend machines to mix or blend plastics.
  • Stop mixing or blending machines when specified product qualities are obtained. Open valves and start pumps to transfer mixtures.
  • Examine materials, ingredients, or products visually or with hands to ensure standard quality specifications and requirements.
  • Transfer materials, supplies, or products between work areas, using a forklift or manual methods.
  • Unload mixtures into Gaylord containers for further processing.
  • Dislodge and clear jammed materials or other items from machinery or equipment, using hand tools.
  • Safety Requirements: Understand and follow all WMC Health & Safety Practices. Report all injuries and unsafe work conditions. Attend mandatory safety training and request additional training as needed.
  • Attach identifying tags to containers.
  • Secure material or products for transport.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required

  • Production Oriented: Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Dependability: Job requires being reliable, responsible, and dependable, and fulfilling obligations.
  • Attention to Detail: Job requires being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks.
  • Cooperation: Job requires being pleasant with others on the job and displaying a good-natured, cooperative attitude.
  • Integrity: Job requires being honest and ethical.

Education and/or Experience

  • Highschool diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-2 Years of experience in a manufacturing environment. (Preferred)
  • 1-2 Years of experience operating a forklift. (Preferred)
  • Ability to communicate in the English language.
  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic.
  • Knowledge of when to escalate an issue to supervisor.
  • Ability to perform basic troubleshooting.
  • Ability obtain and maintain a license to operate a forklift safely
  • Basic mechanical skills. Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

  • The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and use hands and arms. May be required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl or crouch.

This is a first shift position working from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
