Job Description
The Production Operator will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating CNC machinery to support continuous production on 3rd shift. This role does not require CNC programming or machine setup experience. Instead, the operator will focus on monitoring machine performance, performing routine quality checks, and ensuring consistent output. Candidates should have a solid mechanical aptitude and comfort working with industrial equipment.
Requirements:Key Responsibilities
- Operate assigned CNC machine(s) to maintain steady and efficient production flow.
- Monitor machine performance, identify basic issues, and escalate concerns to technicians or supervisors when needed.
- Perform routine tests to ensure finished products meet specifications.
- Follow daily maintenance checklist on the machinery to ensure functionality.
- Load and unload parts, ensuring correct orientation and handling.
- Maintain accurate production records, including counts, inspection results, and downtime logs.
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
- Handle materials appropriately and follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety guidelines, and quality requirements.
- Communicate effectively with the previous and next shift to ensure smooth handoffs.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by reporting recurring issues or suggesting process enhancements.
Qualifications
- Willingness to work 3rd shift hours (10pm – 6:30am Monday thru Friday) and occasional overtime.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with machinery- possessing the ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings
- Ability to read basic work instructions, production paperwork, and measurement tools.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Prior manufacturing experience preferred but not required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work well with others, and independently
(No CNC programming or setup experience necessary — full training provided).
**This is a fast-paced manufacturing setting with exposure to machinery, noise and industrial materials in a team-oriented environment requiring the following Physical Requirements:
- Regularly use hands and fingers to handle, control or feel objects
- Regularly required to speak and hear
- Ability to stand, walk or remain on feet for extended periods
- Ability to bend, kneel, or reach as needed to inspect machinery, tooling, or production lines
- Ability to hear and communicate effectively in environments with moderate industrial noise
- Ability to occasionally lift, carry, or move items up to 50 lbs (tools, components, documentation, small equipment).
- Ability to assist with or oversee equipment movement or installation (not heavy lifting, but supervisory presence).
- Ability to wear required PPE (safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toe shoes, etc.).
