Lollypop Farm is hiring for a full-time Foster Care Coordinator. The Foster Care Coordinator carries out the mission of Lollypop Farm through the coordination and support of dedicated volunteer Foster Care volunteers and the animals in their care. This position ensures the timely placement of animals into foster care and, using best practices, innovative processes, and effective collaboration with colleagues and volunteers, provides foster pets with crucial, life-saving care.

Essential Job Duties:

  • In collaboration with the Foster Care team, implements foster care program processes to meet goals and objectives
  • Identifies, in collaboration with colleagues across the Operations team, animals for the Foster Care program and matches them with Foster Care volunteers
  • Administers vaccinations, certain medications, and testing of Foster animals, as needed
  • Provides compassionate care to all animals
  • Coordinates the timely transfer of animals to foster homes and schedules ongoing care, including visits for veterinary care in the Lollypop Farm Klingenstein Veterinary Clinic
  • Recruits and trains dedicated Foster Care volunteers, in collaboration with the Volunteer/Behavior/Veterinary teams, to meet the needs of foster animals who have medical or behavioral needs, neonates, long-term stays, and other at-risk animals
  • Provides friendly customer service to Foster Care volunteers, responding to inquiries from foster parents in a timely manner and resolving issues as they arise. Ensures compliance of Foster Care volunteers with all policies
  • Coordinate web-based adoptions for Foster Care volunteers who may adopt pets from home
  • Accurately maintains all required records in the shelter’s database, as well as the SOP and records to track the care, cost, number, and type of animals in program.
  • Manage inventory of foster supplies
  • Coordinates transfers, including out of state transports, in and out of shelter
  • Maintains and builds positive relationships with rescue and animal welfare agencies
  • Work with Events and Communications to create a donation drive, host events such as kitten showers, and hold rescue partner events
  • Provides support to animal care and adoptions as needed
  • Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable state and federal laws
  • Observes all safety rules and regulations for self and others
  • Performs other duties as requested
Requirements:

Education & Experience: High School diploma or equivalent. One year of professional experience in animal sheltering preferred. One year of experience in customer service preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered if aligned with the position.

Skills: Ability to work effectively under pressure. Strong organizational skills. Ability to plan and organize presentations and present effectively before a group or one-on-one. Ability to interpret simple instructions, short correspondences and memos. Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed and involved instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Computer competency in Office programs and ability to learn shelter software. Ability to operate an animal chip scanner, dishwasher, washer and dryer, medical syringes, cleaning supplies, power washer and floor machine.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position during shift, move throughout the building and move weight up to 50 pounds. Frequently required to communicate with others. Occasionally required to move excessive weight.
