Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of maintenance technicians to drive performance and engagement.
- Promote a positive, respectful, and accountable team culture aligned with company values.
- Manage staffing, training, scheduling, and performance of maintenance personnel.
- Address employee concerns and resolve conflicts to maintain a collaborative work environment.
- Hold team members accountable for safety, quality, operational, and financial performance metrics.
- Oversee all maintenance activities, including preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
- Ensure rapid and effective response to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime.
- Lead efforts to improve equipment reliability, increase uptime, and extend asset life.
- Troubleshoot and support repairs on manufacturing equipment such as conveyors, mixers, ovens, and proofing systems.
- Optimize equipment performance in accordance with OEM standards.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, and root cause analysis methodologies.
- Monitor and improve key performance indicators (KPIs) such as downtime, mean time between failures (MTBF), and maintenance costs.
- Identify and implement process and technology improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies and regulatory requirements, including OSHA and food safety standards.
- Promote and enforce a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
- Identify and address risks related to food safety, product quality, and regulatory compliance.
- Maintain adherence to sanitation, safety, and quality protocols across all maintenance activities.
- Manage the maintenance budget and control costs while maintaining operational effectiveness.
- Oversee spare parts inventory to ensure availability and proper organization.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and improvements.
- Support timekeeping, scheduling, and workforce planning for the maintenance team.
- Partner with production, quality, and other departments to support operational goals.
- Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, providing updates and recommendations.
- Support company initiatives focused on product quality, safety, and operational excellence.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related field) preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing or industrial maintenance environment; food manufacturing experience preferred.
- Strong leadership and team development skills with the ability to train and mentor employees at all levels.
- Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in mechanical and electrical systems.
- Hands-on experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, PLCs, electrical systems, refrigeration, and automation.
- Familiarity with maintenance management systems (e.g., MaintainX) and Microsoft Office tools.
- Strong analytical and decision-making abilities with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and predictive maintenance methodologies.
- Solid understanding of safety regulations, including OSHA standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including reporting and presentations.
- Ability to interpret technical documents, blueprints, and regulatory requirements.
- Project management skills with the ability to manage priorities, timelines, and resources effectively.
- Ability to step into leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Maintenance Manager.
