POSITION: Senior Director, Development
STATUS: Full-time; M-F 9-5p
Reports to: Executive Director
POSITION SUMMARY: The Development Direction is responsible for the development and implantation of plans to raise funds for Hour Children in a cost-effective and time-efficient manner. Duties include overseeing and managing fundraising efforts; building strong and successful relationships; maintaining communications with donors and patrons; and collaborating with staff to effectively communicate program goals, activities, and results.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and oversee the execution of the annual fundraising plan
- Promote new and increased giving among varying groups, including individual, private, foundation, corporate, and government funding
- Identify prospective individual and corporate donors and develop strategies to cultivate those relationships
- Maintain ongoing communications with private and institutional donors
- Supervise grant writing to foundations, including ensuring timely compliance with all funder reporting requirements
- Assist in the preparation of government contracts, including budgets
- Develop and promote a consistent marketing message and branding for the organization
- Develop and edit content for all marketing collateral and outreach materials including newsletters, electronic communications, appeal letters, press releases, brochures, and invitations
- Oversee the creation, content, layout, and ongoing maintenance of the organization's website
- Supervise all fundraising and marketing events
- Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors to meet agreed-upon goals
- Supervise the Development Team
- Represent Hour Children at speaking events
- Serve as a point person to individuals, organizations and members of the media seeking information about/access to Hour Children

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA or BS degree, Master's degree preferred
- Strong writing skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Oral communication skills to effectively represent the organization
- Fluency in Word & Excel
Familiarity with fundraising software tools - Ability and willingness to multi-task
- Team Player with a commitment to social justice issues
