Job Description
This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Technical Lead, DevOps in Canada.
This role sits at the core of a modern engineering organization, responsible for designing and operating the cloud and DevSecOps foundation that enables all software delivery teams to move faster and more safely. You will lead the evolution of scalable AWS infrastructure, CI/CD automation, and platform engineering standards across the organization. Acting as a key technical enabler, you will ensure systems are reliable, secure, observable, and cost-efficient. The position requires strong architectural thinking combined with hands-on engineering execution in complex cloud environments. You will collaborate closely with engineering, security, and architecture leadership to shape governance and operational excellence. This is a high-impact role where your work directly accelerates delivery across multiple teams while strengthening system resilience.
- Design, build, and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS using Terraform, Docker, and infrastructure-as-code best practices.
- Own and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines in GitLab to ensure secure, efficient, and reliable software delivery workflows.
- Implement and evolve DevSecOps practices including automated security scanning, vulnerability management, and compliance enforcement.
- Define and enforce cloud governance frameworks, cost optimization strategies, and architectural guardrails across engineering teams.
- Develop observability, monitoring, and alerting systems to improve system reliability, performance, and incident response.
- Collaborate with security leadership to ensure audit readiness, ITGC compliance, and control framework implementation.
- Enable developer productivity through automation, self-service tooling, and standardized deployment patterns.
- Contribute to architecture decisions and engineering standards in partnership with technical leadership.
- Mentor engineers on cloud infrastructure, DevOps practices, and operational excellence.
Requirements:
- 7+ years of experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or infrastructure roles with strong AWS expertise.
- Solid experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Strong background in containerization technologies including Docker and orchestration tools such as ECS or EKS.
- Experience with serverless architectures such as AWS Lambda and Step Functions.
- Proven expertise in CI/CD pipeline design and implementation, ideally using GitLab.
- Strong understanding of DevSecOps principles, including security automation and compliance practices.
- Deep knowledge of AWS cloud governance, cost management, and architectural best practices.
- Ability to translate business and technical requirements into scalable infrastructure solutions.
- Strong analytical thinking, communication skills, and ability to influence stakeholders.
- Experience working in Agile environments and managing complex delivery timelines.
- Background in regulated industries or financial services is an advantage.
- AWS certifications are considered a strong asset.
Benefits:
- Competitive compensation aligned with senior technical leadership roles.
- 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity with long-term potential.
- Flexible work environment with remote collaboration.
- Opportunity to shape enterprise-scale DevSecOps and cloud platform strategy.
- Exposure to modern AWS-native architectures and advanced infrastructure practices.
- High-impact role influencing engineering velocity, security, and scalability across the organization.
- Collaborative environment working closely with engineering, architecture, and security leadership teams.
