Position Summary:
The Radiology Scheduler is responsible for coordinating, scheduling, and confirming all radiology appointments for oncology patients, including CT, MRI, PET scans, ultrasounds, X-rays, and other diagnostic imaging. This position collaborates closely with providers, clinical staff, radiology vendors, and patients to ensure timely scheduling, proper authorizations, and smooth workflow.
Key Responsibilities:
Schedule radiology appointments based on provider orders and clinical urgency
Communicate with radiology facilities to secure timely appointments
Verify required insurance authorizations and documentation
Ensure correct coding, CPT/ICD-10 alignment, and imaging protocol requirements
Provide clear instructions to patients regarding prep, arrival time, and locations
Confirm appointments and follow up on cancellations or rescheduling needs
Maintain accurate records in the EHR and scheduling systems
Collaborate with clinical staff on STAT orders or schedule changes
Track and monitor completion of ordered imaging and ensure reports are received
Provide exceptional customer service and support to patients and families
Qualifications:
Previous experience in medical scheduling, radiology, or oncology preferred
Strong knowledge of radiology terminology and imaging requirements a plus
Familiarity with insurance authorization processes
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work in a fast-paced clinical environment
Proficiency with EHR systems and scheduling software
High school diploma required; medical office training preferred
