Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Regional Vice President and regional leadership team to provide operational oversight and strategic support across the assigned region
  • Strengthen municipal contract retention by deploying experienced operational leadership to stabilize and support underperforming or high-risk contracts
  • Identify operational gaps and develop standardized processes, procedures, and best practices to improve consistency and performance
  • Support and lead operational initiatives focused on productivity improvement, service reliability, and cost efficiency
  • Conduct strategic assessments and planning activities while collaborating cross-functionally to drive high levels of internal and external customer satisfaction
  • Support the acquisition and renewal of municipal contracts by maintaining strong relationships with elected officials, municipal staff, and key community stakeholders
  • Assist with the startup, onboarding, and transition of newly awarded municipal contracts to ensure smooth operational execution
  • Provide guidance and direction to Division Managers on operational processes, performance expectations, and data interpretation to drive consistent results
  • Train and mentor supervisors and managers across all aspects of operational leadership, organization, and accountability
  • Educate operational leaders on profit and loss management, cost drivers, and strategies for influencing financial performance
  • Serve as a consultative resource and subject matter expert for municipal clients, offering industry insight and operational guidance
  • Establish, monitor, and analyze key performance indicators, supporting Division Managers in developing and executing targeted improvement plans
  • Coach leaders on the effective use of data to manage performance and support driver development
  • Maintain direct involvement in resolving escalated service issues and complaints raised by municipal partners and key officials
  • Represent the company at community and industry events to promote brand visibility, community engagement, and organizational differentiation
  • Ensure consistent execution of the Regional Safety Program by coaching leaders, monitoring compliance, and evaluating safety-related initiatives
  • Support Division Managers in the development and execution of sales plans, operational goals, and growth initiatives
  • Provide interim operational leadership coverage during manager absences, including vacation or transitional periods

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in business, management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Extensive leadership experience within the waste industry with demonstrated success building and leading high-performing teams
  • Proven ability to drive strategic and consultative process improvements across complex operational environments
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with strong organizational, interpersonal, presentation, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Professional presence with the adaptability to adjust leadership approach based on situational needs
  • Proficiency with standard business software applications, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Experience developing strategies to grow revenue, control costs, and identify new business opportunities
  • Strong background in financial analysis, pricing strategy, profitability management, and client relationship development
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively within an assigned regional territory
  • Ability to work independently with a high degree of accountability while remaining collaborative and team-oriented
  • Proven success working cross-functionally within fast-paced, dynamic environments
