Summary:
The Project Accountant is responsible for construction project related accounting, which includes project set-up, invoicing, payments to subcontractors and vendors and coordinating with the project team on financial matters.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Education/Experience:
Prior construction accounting experience preferred.
Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret typical business and accounting correspondence and financial reports. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization.
Math Ability:
Ability to understand accounting concepts such as job costing, progress billing, overhead, change orders, etc. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of accounting concepts.
Required Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an employee must be able to understand construction accounting, master the construction billing process, and effectively use the following computer programs within a reasonable amount of time:

Job Description:
Job Title: Project Accountant

Summary:
The Project Accountant is responsible for construction project related accounting, which includes project set-up, invoicing, payments to subcontractors and vendors and coordinating with the project team on financial matters.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit monthly billings to the owner for each project; to include invoices, waivers, and sworn statements.
- Enter vendor invoices into computer system and assign the appropriate cost codes.
- Request and review subcontractor invoices and waivers for accuracy and then process subcontractor applications for payment.
- Determine which invoices to pay after payment is received for a project and cut checks for distribution to the subcontractors and vendors being paid.
- Set-up new projects in computer system.
- Be the point of contact for subcontractor and vendor inquiries.
- Provides technical assistance and advice to project management staff to ensure smooth and efficient day-to-day operations.
- Assists with improvements to accounting system and questions from affiliates.
- Assists with accounting department responsibilities as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
