Pinto Valley is an open-pit copper mine located at the west end of the historic Globe-Miami mining district of central Arizona, approximately 80 miles east of Phoenix. Pinto Valley has been in operation since 1972 and has produced more than four billion pounds of copper. Acquired by Capstone from BHP in 2013, the mine is fully permitted through 2039 and a study is underway to potentially extend the mine life through 2050.

Position Purpose
The Mine Dispatcher manages haul truck assignments to achieve weekly shift movement targets by source and destination. Ensures efficient haulage flow by minimizing queue times, hang delays, and inconsistent cycles while maintaining accurate activity and delay coding.
Position Responsibilities
- Safety & Compliance: Support safe mine operations by monitoring pit radar systems, responding to alarms in accordance with TARPs, receiving and escalating fatigue alerts, and coordinating with operations and maintenance to address safety-related issues in real time.
- Dispatch & Haulage Coordination: Manage haul truck assignments by source and destination to meet weekly shift movement targets. Minimize hang time, queue delays, and wait-to-dump time at the crusher while ensuring efficient haulage flow.
- Crew & Resource Coordination: Complete and maintain crew rosters for Load/Haul and Mine Support teams. Coordinate transportation of employees to equipment and work areas to support uninterrupted operations.
- System Monitoring & Data Integrity: Monitor dispatch and fleet management systems to ensure accurate cycle data with no inconsistencies at shift end. Enter notifications during the shift as operational or equipment issues arise.
- Performance Monitoring & KPIs: Track queue times, equipment utilization, and downtime, including dewatering systems and pumps. Monitor and report performance KPIs for the work area to support operational decision-making.
- Maintenance & Operations Integration: Work closely with the maintenance team to communicate equipment issues, organize priorities, and support effective execution of maintenance activities impacting production.
- Technology & Reporting Support: Identify and report technology or system issues affecting dispatch operations. Ensure timely, accurate reporting to maintain reliable operational data and shift handovers.
Position Requirements
Required:
- 5–10 years of mining experience with demonstrated knowledge of the drill–blast–load–haul open pit mining sequence.
- Experience using MineStar or a comparable fleet management system.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify issues and implement solutions in real time.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to speak, comprehend, read, and write English fluently.
Preferred:
- Prior experience in a copper mining operation.
- Experience with SAP or a similar enterprise system.
- Previous dispatch or control room experience in a surface mining environment.
Work Environment / Physical Demands
- This role is primarily office-based, with approximately 95% of time spent in a dispatch or control room environment and 5% spent in the field.
- Ability to sit for extended periods while monitoring multiple systems and communicating with operations teams.
- Ability to stand and walk for short durations, including navigating stairs and uneven surfaces.
- Ability to kneel, stoop, crawl, or squat occasionally in confined or operational areas.
