Senior Network Engineer at San Francisco Health Plan – San Francisco, California
About This Position
Reporting to Manager, Systems Infrastructure, the Senior Network Engineer's role is to ensure the stable operation of the in-house network infrastructure. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links. You will also be responsible for all connections to external partners, such as trading partner networks that support file exchanges or access to approved external applications and systems. You will also analyze and resolve end user hardware and software computer problems and accurate fashion and provide end user training where required. Other responsibilities include management of vendors who provide services that integrate with SFHP network resources. Disaster recovery and high availability are expected network capabilities supported by the Senior Network Engineer.
Please note that while SFHP supports a hybrid work environment, you are required to be onsite and in-office a minimum of 4 days per month. This is a hybrid position, based in our Downtown San Francisco office.
Salary: $130,000 - $153,000 per year
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Provide Network designs and recommendations for network improvements
- Ownership of all network hardware and software components
- Configuration of routers, switches, firewalls, and all network appliances
- Manage firewall policies
- VPN support
- Monitor all network services
- Management of all security processes and reporting
- Preventative maintenance of all network hardware
- Second tier support for desktop & phone administration
- Manage racks, AC power & cabling (Physical Plant)
- Automate processes
- Document servers and network procedures
- Maintenance alerts and monitoring of network infrastructure
- Perform network design and capacity planning
- Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for network resource administration, appropriate use, and disaster recovery
- Help develop and support of service level agreements with end users
- Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end user workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices
- Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services
- Research network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts
- Manage servers, including email, print, and backup servers and their associated operating systems and software
- Manage security solutions, including firewall, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systems, URL filtering, multi factor authentication and web security solutions
- Ensure network connectivity of all systems
- Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information
- Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports
- Recommend, schedule, and perform network improvements, upgrades, and repairs
- Plus (not required): Understanding of Cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, Google)
WHAT YOU WILL BRING:
- Bachelor's degree preferred (Information Technology, Computer Science, Cyber Security, or related field) or 4+ years of equivalent experience.
- 4+ years in network support and administration
- Cisco networking experience required Security certifications (CompTIA Security+, CISSP, CISM, CISA, GIAC, etc.) are a plus
- Microsoft and Cisco Certifications are a plus
- Experience with health care organization preferred
