About This Position
Description:
Are you passionate about patient care and excited to be part of a busy surgical practice? We are seeking an experienced, motivated, detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Surgery Scheduler at our Premier Ophthalmology practice.
- Assist patients with all aspects of pre-operative preparations to make their surgical experience as smooth as possible
- Acts as a liaison between the practice, the surgical facility, the physician and the patient.
- Schedules all patient surgeries to include pre-op and post-op appointments.
- Manage insurance verification
- Assist patients in filling out forms and collect fees such as co-pays, co-insurance, and any other monies due
- Ensure patients have proper medical clearance and pre-surgical testing as needed
- Ensure patient demographic and insurance information is complete and up to date
- Respond to questions from patients and/or family members in a caring and patient manner
- Must be able to accurately enter data into computer while talking with patients on the phone or in person
- Provide patient with any special instructions needed for their surgery or testing
- Reschedule appointments or recall patients if the doctor’s surgery schedule has changed
- Positive, outgoing, and enthusiastic personality with excellent customer service skills.
- Must respond to patient questions with kindness and caring.
- Good oral and written communication skills and proper grammar.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient records
- Computer literate with the ability to learn and work in different software applications and accurately enter data into computer while communicating with patients.
- Experience using an EMR system, EMA a plus.
- Well organized multi-tasker with excellent attention to detail.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Ability to work under pressure with strict deadlines.
- Bi-lingual a plus.
- Ophthalmology surgery scheduling experience and knowledge helpful.
