About This Position

Overview

Versatran, a division of Metalcraft of Mayville, Inc. is building our team to support business growth. Versatran manufactures the patented Retriever line of equipment transport truck beds (www.vtran.com) and is now located inside of the Beaver Dam facility.

Truck body assemblers are responsible for working directly with team members as well as individually to assemble and install our Retriever truck bodies. Preparation of various parts and sub-assemblies is also a part of the job. The employee must be able to read and understand work instructions, drawings and schematics. Use of hand and power tools is required as well as maintaining a clean and safe work area.



Responsibilities

  • Assemble and install retriever truck beds onto heavy duty truck chassis
  • Operate common hand and power tools including but not limited to various types of drills (mag drills, angle drill and cordless), impacts, crimpers, wire strippers, torque wrenches, hammer, tape measure, grinders and sanders
  • Perform drilling, bolting, sanding, grinding, cutting and buffing of parts
  • Perform gluing, taping, filing, screwing, tightening and clamping of parts
  • Pull, run and install cables, wires and harnesses throughout the truck
  • Apply measurement for proper alignment and attachment of parts
  • Read and interpret parts drawing and schematics
  • Complete necessary paperwork including work orders and inspection reports
  • Able to crawl, kneel to work under and around trucks and occasionally work in tight spaces
  • Work required hours and maintain and excellent attendance record
  • Work overtime and weekends as needed· Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Operate a crane/hoist for heavy lifting
  • Check fluids, fuel systems, batteries and other specific parts/equipment
  • Check and review work orders and schedules
  • Assist co-workers with lifting parts, Recognize the differences in parts and tools
  • Other duties as assigned

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • Two or more years of mechanical and assembly experience
    • Solid math and ability to read and convert measurements
    • Experience with power tools and hand tools
    • Mechanical Aptitude
