JobSummary:
The Senior Civil/StructuralEngineer will be responsible for the Lead role on multi-discipline projects aswell as technical activities relating to the design of steel and concretestructures related to new and existing onshore facilities. Includedfunctions encompass assessment, analysis, and detailed design of platforms,foundations, skids, and related appurtenances. This involves projectphases from conceptual engineering through construction, installation, andstart-up. Design specifications, regulatory compliance, and projectdocumentation are additional functions of this position. Coordinatingwith and directing Designers and Drafters of structural and other disciplinesis required to accomplish project tasks.
JobDuties and Responsibilities:
• Manage Civil/Structural Engineering portion ofmulti-discipline project:
§ Assignwork to junior engineers, mentor, and check quality of their work;
§ Estimateresources require for project execution;
§ ManageCivil/Structural Engineering budget and schedule;
§ Interfacewith client representatives.
• Conceptual, preliminary and detailed structuralanalysis and design, related to a variety of onshore power and industrialfacility projects;
• May perform structural analysis utilizing theSTAAD suite of computer programs;
• Effectively reference current ACI, AISC, ASCE,API, AWS, ISO, and other industry regulatory, and project specific standardsand codes;
• Work on projects of moderate size or portions ofmajor projects;
• Develop project calculations and documentationusing tools such as Mathcad, MS Word and MS Excel;
• Interface with design team which may comprise:project managers, engineers, drafters and support staff;
• Research, learn, develop and implement variousdesign techniques which may be industry specific;
• Perform the necessary field work to obtainaccurate information required to complete the assigned task;
• Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications(Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
Basicor Minimum Qualifications
• Illinois Licensein Structural Engineering is required;
• Knowledge andexperience utilizing structural design codes including ACI, AISC, ACI and ASCEdesign guidelines;
• Ability toutilize applicable engineering software such as STAAD;
• Strong knowledgeand skill with MathCAD, MS Excel and MS Word;
• Ability tocomplete discipline related duties independently;
• Ability tocomplete tasks that are client/project specific with high level direction;
• Familiarity withtotal project systems which would include mechanical, structural, civil andelectrical components to allow consideration of those aspects in design;
• Ability tointeract with all levels of staff (support, interdisciplinary project teams,management, etc.);
• Strong writtenand verbal communications skills;
• May require theability to work overtime or travel to offsite work locations.
WorkingConditions:
• Work is conducted in an office environment(Private or Semi-Private Office) and requires occasional travel to off-sitework locations;
• Interaction with other team members as well assupervisor and client personnel;
• May be required to travel out of town on aperiodic basis to obtaining project field data or attend project meetings;
• Field duties may require outdoor work in aplant, facility or terminal environment which may include working in plant orshop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels;
• Field duties require outdoor work in a plant orconstruction atmosphere;
• Must be able to wear safety equipment asrequired by the safety department for personal protection;
• May be at more than one job site in a day andmust be able to tolerate climate changes.
Physical Requirements (With or Without ReasonableAccommodation:
• Must be able to lift and carry twenty (20)pounds;
• Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing orother communication capabilities which permits employee to communicateeffectively;
• Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time;
• Sufficient vision or other powers of observationwhich permits employee to conduct analysis and investigations;
• Sufficient manual dexterity which permit theemployee to perform routine office duties;
• Sufficient personal mobility and physicalreflexes to perform office duties and travel when necessary to off-sitelocations.
