General Description:
The Design Intern will learn about commercial design in a dealership environment with exposure to furniture and architectural solutions. The Design Intern works closely with the design team to develop their design skills and gain experience working with clients to create meaningful and thoughtful on-brand product application solutions that solve client needs. As part of the design team, the Design Intern may also be involved in market segments including but not limited to corporate, education, government, and healthcare. Project scopes may range from small, single office layout to large, complex reconfigure projects.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Keep the library samples up to date and easy to reference (furniture & flooring departments)
- Order samples as needed; mail back and return samples as needed (furniture & flooring departments)
- Assist design team with projects including order samples, pulling together finish options, drawings, finish boards, etc. (furniture & flooring departments)
- Research product solutions including pricing
- May assist in site visits to prepare for installs, measure for projects
- Prepare and send out bid submittal packages for flooring department
- Learn to use primary design tools such as CET, CAD, Zoho
- Learn basics of furniture specification
- Familiarization with MR Design Process including project information intake, schedule management, design process, deliverables output, revisions, specification checks, and install drawing generation
- Other duties may be assigned as needed
KEY SELECTION AND SUCCESS FACTORS
- Must be enrolled in a collegiate level design program
- Interest in corporate interiors
