Manager, Milk Bank at Childrens Hospital of The King's Daughters – Norfolk, Virginia

Reports to NICU Director and is responsible for managing designated service personnel, coordinating and directing the workflow and functions of the department assigned to facilitate safe and efficient workflow and clinical practices. Overall responsibility for designated service operations with 24-hour accountability.

Delegates, supervises personnel, solves problems, makes decisions and develops systems and processes for successful integration and implementation.

Independently carries out and is accountable for daily operations and other negotiated/assigned activities.

Seeks guidance from the Director and/or upper management for unusual or unanticipated circumstances that require deviation from financial/operational policies and standards of practice.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Current Virginia state license as a Registered Nurse or Registered Nurse holding a valid Compact State license.

CPR Training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire.

Bachelor’s degree in nursing required.

Experience with data collection and database maintenance and Healthcare/Management experience preferred.

Possesses excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills with the ability to plan, establish and maintain a professional work environment.

Ability to identify problems and implement solutions for operational and organizational functions.

Interpersonal skills necessary to direct subordinates and delegate tasks.

Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice.

Technical and professional knowledge unique to the business and/or clinical operations of the designated services (Nursing, Financial, Human Resource, Information Systems, Risk Governance, Regulations, Planning and Marketing).

NICU experience preferred.

Demonstrated knowledge of Human Milk Banking standards required.

Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like.
