Pay Range
This is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus.
Johns Manville sets the benchmark high for our products—and even higher for our people. We are seeking a high‑performing Preferred Accounts Manager to join our Roofing Systems Preferred Accounts team. This role is responsible for business development, strategic account management, and strengthening JM’s position with key commercial roofing clients.
In this highly visible and relationship‑driven position, you will partner closely with JM’s sales organization, product management, marketing, technical teams, certified contractors, architects, and specifiers to drive product preference and long-term customer success.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Business Development & Account Growth
- Establish JM as an industry leader and trusted partner for Preferred Account clients.
- Identify, cultivate, and convert targeted prospects into long-term Preferred Account relationships.
- Develop in-depth understanding of client businesses, contracting processes, and complex stakeholder dynamics.
- Evaluate competitor offerings and market positioning to drive JM preference.
Relationship Building & Customer Engagement
- Build multi-level relationships with key decision-makers within existing accounts.
- Increase JM’s share of business by aligning value propositions to customer needs.
- Serve as the single point of contact for Preferred Accounts, ensuring consistent, high-quality service delivery.
- Support JM sales teams and certified contractors by driving specification and brand preference.
Architectural & Specification Partnership (ASR-Aligned Activities)
- Network, build relationships, and influence specifications for JM and specialty line products.
- Target architects, school districts, municipalities, and spec-writing consultants.
- Provide design and specification support, ensuring accurate and timely product recommendations.
- Conduct AIA presentations, Lunch & Learns, and technical education sessions using approved JM content.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of roofing systems, specialty products, and metal requirements.
Lead Generation & Outreach
- Generate and qualify leads using PRA job sourcing, Dodge reports, Salesforce insights, and networking events.
- Achieve 100% outreach to specifiers on PRA leads.
- Schedule customer meetings each month.
- Follow established rules for architect/project ownership assignments.
Customer Management & Salesforce Discipline
- Maintain accurate customer lists and activity logs in Salesforce.
- Manage proactive outreach based on customer rating cadence.
- Identify and manage five top-priority target accounts.
Internal Collaboration & Communication
- Communicate regularly with OSRs, ISRs, PMs, and PRA teams regarding project activity.
- Notify internal partners of project starts, spec reviews, metal needs, or specialty product requirements.
- Follow established escalation and communication pathways.
Marketing, Networking & Outreach
- Build your professional brand on LinkedIn; share or engage with PRA content monthly.
- Provide email blast content drafts per month; coordinate list changes with central owner.
- Attend targeted industry events annually and subscribe to relevant publications.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in business development or national/regional account sales within:
- Roofing or construction
- Commercial real estate
- Industrial sales
- Strong analytical skills for evaluating product lines, systems, and competitor strategies.
- Skilled in negotiation, problem solving, and direct communication.
- Ability to navigate complex selling environments and build strategic solutions.
- Willingness to travel up to 50%.
- Must reside in Southeast Florida.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with national or regional commercial building owners, roofing consultants, and specifiers.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced knowledge of commercial roofing competitors—their products, systems, and pricing.
- Participation or leadership experience in industry organizations such as:
BOMA, NAIOP, RCI (IIBEC), DBIA, CSI, or related associations.
