About This Position
This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Staff Software Engineer, AI & Automation in the United States.
This role sits at the core of an AI-driven customer experience platform, where you will define and build the systems that allow AI to understand context and take meaningful action on behalf of customers at scale. You will design and own the integration layer that connects external systems—such as customer data, product catalogs, and enterprise tools—to intelligent workflows powering real-time decisions. Working in a highly senior, hands-on environment, you will collaborate closely with product, design, and customer-facing teams to translate complex needs into elegant, scalable technical solutions. This is a high-impact individual contributor role with significant autonomy, where architectural decisions directly shape the capabilities of AI-powered customer experiences used by global brands. You will also help elevate engineering practices across the team while mentoring senior engineers. The environment is fast-moving, highly technical, and deeply focused on building real-world AI systems that ship to production.
In this role, you will own the architecture and evolution of the AI knowledge and integration layer, ensuring that AI systems are both context-aware and capable of executing meaningful actions across customer environments.
- Define and evolve the integration architecture that connects external systems to AI-driven workflows and customer platforms.
- Build and maintain the “connective tissue” that enables AI systems to access real-time data and execute actions across enterprise systems.
- Design product-facing integration experiences in partnership with product and design teams, ensuring usability and technical robustness.
- Develop scalable tools that allow customers to configure and extend integrations with minimal or no custom code.
- Drive end-to-end delivery of complex technical initiatives, from architecture through production deployment.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to solve both technical and customer-centric product challenges.
- Mentor engineers and raise technical standards through code reviews, design discussions, and knowledge sharing.
This role requires deep full-stack expertise, strong architectural ownership, and a proven ability to build scalable systems that power production-grade AI and integrations.
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, with a strong record of building and shipping large-scale products.
- Proven Staff/Principal-level ownership of technical domains, including end-to-end architectural responsibility.
- Strong experience designing and building integrations, APIs, or platform infrastructure.
- Hands-on experience across modern full-stack technologies, with willingness to work in TypeScript, React, Go, and PostgreSQL.
- Strong experience using AI coding tools as part of daily development workflows, with a thoughtful understanding of their strengths and limitations.
- Proven ability to solve ambiguous, 0-to-1 product and technical problems and deliver production-ready solutions.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex systems clearly and collaborate across disciplines.
- Customer-centric mindset with a focus on building practical, real-world solutions.
- Competitive annual salary range: $183,000 – $246,000 USD
- Equity participation in a high-growth company
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
- Fully remote-first work environment with flexible collaboration options
- Generous PTO, parental leave, and wellness support
- Home office stipend and productivity tools support
- Opportunities for in-person team gatherings and collaboration sessions
- Strong emphasis on professional growth, learning, and leadership development
- Inclusive, transparent, and collaborative engineering culture
