We are seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to develop new methods and enhance integration with both existing and emerging platforms, serving as the subject matter expert for the full range of Cytek flow cytometers.
The core focus of this role includes instrumentation control, real-time signal and image processing, high-throughput data acquisition, and maximizing overall data performance.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Design, develop, debug, and optimize electrical hardware in alignment with project goals, including schematic capture, PCB layout, component selection, BOM generation, and functional implementation.
Generate electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and comprehensive technical documentation.
Conduct research and analysis to enhance existing electrical systems, components, and products.
Collaborate with engineering teams on the development, debugging, and verification testing of electromechanical and embedded systems.
Provide technical support through verification, production, and post-launch phases.
Lead product testing to ensure compliance with applicable medical electrical standards (e.g., EMC/IEC).
Prepare detailed subsystem technical files, user manuals, and related documentation.
Mentor and provide technical leadership to junior electrical engineers.
Build deep technical expertise across all Cytek cytometer systems and develop the ability to analyze and troubleshoot electromechanical subsystems.
Requirements & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
Minimum of 15 years of industry experience; medical device development experience strongly preferred.
Proficiency with PCB design tools and multi-layer board layout (4+ layers), including signal integrity considerations.
Strong skills in C programming, analog, and digital circuit design.
Experience in electromechanical design for medical products with emphasis on material selection for performance and reliability.
Experience working with complex, multi-subsystem equipment (electronic, optical, fluidic, software) is a plus.
Ability to independently design, analyze, and verify circuits using electronic component datasheets.
Familiarity with relevant industrial standards and hands-on experience with EMC/ESD debugging.
Demonstrated leadership, analytical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical audiences.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Must be able to travel as needed via commercial airline, train, or car to engage with suppliers.
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs safely and perform tasks requiring standing for up to one hour.
