HISTO TECHNICIAN at Morris Hospital – Morris, Illinois

• DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
  • A person who performs a variety of tasks most of which are directly related to the preparation of tissue and cytology specimens for gross and microscopic examination.
• QUALIFICATIONS
  • Professional/Educational
    • 24 semester hours are required in chemistry, biological sciences, mathematics or physics preferred.
    • Laboratory training culminating in National Certification: HTL (ASCP), HT (ASCP), or equivalent preferred. Otherwise, on the job training.
    • Must be able to perform duties routinely performed in an up-to-date histology / cytology lab.
    • Able to work independently most of the time in an organized and efficient manner.
  • Personal
    • Evidence of good health, grooming and professional conduct.
    • Desire and ability to cooperate with and/or under the direction of others.
    • Possesses a sense of responsibility, initiative and honesty.
    • Ability to follow directions accurately.
    • Has the ability to work very closely with Department Manager, all laboratory employees, nurses, occasional patients, physicians, and other hospital employees.

Actual pay will be determined by qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
