About This Position
We have an immediate opening for a QC / Repair Technician in our Bellingham, WA facility. This position is primarily responsible for troubleshooting and repairing returned products and tools, while also supporting product development efforts, prototyping, and general facility improvements.
This is a hands-on role suited for someone who enjoys working across a wide range of mechanical, electrical, and shop-related tasks.
Key Responsibilities
Product Inspection & Repair:
- Process returned machines and tools
- Assess freight damage
- Diagnose product failures by: Observing and listening to damaged products, Examining returned parts and machinery, Dismantling products to identify defective components, and Communicating with customers regarding product failures
- Repair or replace defective parts, including electrical components
- Realign and adjust components such as bearings, spindles, and electric motors
- Reassemble and test machines to ensure proper functionality
Tools & Equipment:
- Regularly operate hand tools, power tools, woodworking and metalworking machinery
- Use forklifts, gear pullers, jacks, cranes, and hoists as needed
Systems & Documentation:
- Use Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Teams) and internal ERP systems to enter, track, and retrieve product, repair, and inventory information
- Prepare reports, process returns, and complete batch inspections
- Communicate effectively through internal systems
Product Development & Support:
- Support product development efforts, including building, modifying, and testing prototypes
- Assist in evaluating new product designs and provide feedback based on hands-on testing and repair experience
Facility & Team Support:
- Assist with shop organization, equipment maintenance, and facility improvement projects
- Support other departments as needed
Qualifications & Requirements
- Mechanical and electrical experience
- Ability to read schematics
- High mechanical aptitude
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Organized and detail-oriented
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative
- Basic to intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Teams) and ability to learn ERP systems
- Clean driving record
- Woodworking or metalworking experience preferred
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. unassisted
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Strong customer service skills
