About the position:
As a Store Clerk / Receiver, you will support the daily operations of The Arc’s retail store by assisting customers, receiving and processing donations, stocking merchandise, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. This role also works alongside individuals served by The Arc, providing respectful support and contributing to a positive, mission-driven workplace.
What You'll Do:
Provide friendly and professional customer service, including answering questions and operating the cash register
Receive, sort, and process donated items such as bags, boxes, furniture, and household goods
Research, price, and stock merchandise on the sales floor
Maintain an organized, clean, and safe store and warehouse environment
Assist with opening and closing duties as assigned
Support donation intake and occasional community donation pick-ups
Work alongside individuals served by The Arc, offering positive guidance and support in store-related tasks
Follow agency policies, procedures, and safety practices
Support general retail operations and team needs
Other duties as assigned
What You'll Bring:
Customer service or retail experience preferred
Ability to operate or learn point-of-sale systems
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to stay organized and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
Positive, patient, and professional attitude
Willingness to work with and support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Physical Requirements:
Must pass a post-offer pre-employment background check, arduous physical, and drug/TB screen
Ability to perform essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation
Ability to work in retail, warehouse, outdoor, and community settings
Ability to work in outdoor temperatures and weather conditions for prolonged periods of time
Ability to stand for long periods, at least 6 hours per day
Ability to bend, lift, carry, and move donated items or merchandise up to 25 lbs or more
Reliable transportation
Work environment may include exposure to pet allergens. The Arc maintains a pet-friendly culture, and animals (such as the office cat) may occasionally be present in the workplace. Employees may also encounter pet allergens through donated items or community environments.
