About This Position
About the Role:
The Prep Cook plays a crucial role in the kitchen by ensuring that all ingredients are prepped and ready for the cooking staff, which directly impacts the efficiency and quality of food service. This position requires a keen attention to detail and a strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices. The Prep Cook will work closely with chefs and other kitchen staff to prepare ingredients, maintain cleanliness, and support the overall kitchen operations. By effectively managing their time and tasks, the Prep Cook contributes to a smooth workflow, allowing the kitchen to meet the demands of a busy service. Ultimately, the success of the kitchen relies on the Prep Cook's ability to provide high-quality, well-prepared ingredients that enhance the dining experience for guests.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a kitchen or food preparation role.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a high-volume kitchen environment.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and chop vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients as per the menu requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of sauces, dressings, and other food items under the guidance of the head chef.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen workspace, including proper storage of food items.
- Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient food preparation.
Skills:
The required skills for this position include knife skills, which are essential for efficiently preparing ingredients while ensuring safety. Time management is crucial, as the Prep Cook must prioritize tasks to meet the demands of the kitchen during busy service periods. Benefits:
• Paid time off, 1 hour per every 40 hours worked up to year 3; 1.54 hours per every 40 hours worked thereafter; eligible after 90 days.
• Holiday Pay: Easter, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day paid 1.5 times base wage if worked, based on eligibility.
