About This Position

Description:

Summary:

The Program Director oversees the strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of an organization’s programs, ensuring they meet goals, manage the budget, and align with the mission of Catholic Charities and San Antonio Birth Doulas. The director supervises all assigned program employees, apprentices, and responsible for providing required reports and correspondence to the agency and funding sources. Program Director will also assist in grant writing and fund development. The director acts as a representative of the agency at community meetings and events.

Position Responsibilities:

· Program Development & Delivery:

o *This position is responsible for recruitment, hiring, training, conduct individual supervisions, and will make recommendations for termination of employees.

o *Provides oversight in the maintenance and implementation of program policies and procedures and ensure compliance with funding entities.

o *Define project scope, goals, requirements, and analyze data to bridge gaps.

o *Compose, with assistance from Mission Advancement team and Senior Director, grant and funding proposals and applications.

o Ensures that all staff attend all required Doula certification trainings, agency required trainings, and job specific continuing education hours

o Assesses and develops strategies to address knowledge and skill gaps of employees.

o In cooperation with Program Managers, will monitor client caseloads and contractor’s ability to build and manage caseload.

· Budget and Contracts

o *Assist Senior Director in building annual agency budget and/or grant project budgets.

o *Tracking expenditures on a monthly basis and adjusting spending to ensure effective resource allocation.

o *Maintain active communication with Program Accountant and ensure necessary budget invoices completed by due date

o Complete monthly expenditure processing in designated databases in timely manner

o Maintain comprehensive documentation of donations, grant awards, and other revenue.

o Is proactive with local, state, and national issues that may affect sustainability of program.

· Quality Improvement and Evaluation

o *Assist in the designing of the program logic model, outputs, and outcomes.

o *Analyze programs strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.

o *Participate in the agency’s strategic planning endeavors by joining committees and/or collaboration to provide feedback.

o Oversees program staff to ensure timely and accurate data input and utilization of the web-based reports and other reports available through selected system.

o Participate in client file reviews.

o Provides routine surveillance of potential client care incidents.

· Community awareness, support and referrals, and referral systems

o *Assist with the creation and sustainability of an advisory board. Set clear meeting frequency and documentation to report to the agency’s Board of Directors.

o *In collaboration with Program Managers, oversee scheduled doula training workshops, childbirth education classes, networking meetings, internship meetings, and special events.

o *Develops, with the assistance of Mission Advancement, and implements strategies for using local print and electronic media to highlight the program.

o Participate in agency and/or community resources and health fairs.

o Establish and strengthen community partnership by allowing for intern placement, cross training, and/or joining a coalition that work towards achieving a common goal.

-Must complete all required professional development assigned in a timely manner.

-Must ensure all staff complete required professional development assignments in a timely manner.

-Must be sensitive to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.

-Adhering to safety training and protocols on a daily basis, and taking precautionary measure to ensure the safety and well-being of self, others.

-Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization to include but not limited to client names and information, services rendered to clients, donors names and gifts, internal and external investigations or results of any investigations, and financial information.

-Adherence to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral is mandatory.

-Every employee is required to take a solution-oriented approach in their interactions and undertakings, as well as being a team member that promotes collaboration and commitment to the Mission and Vision of the organization.

-Other duties as assigned by the Senior Director, Vice President of Programs, and/or Chief Operating Officer.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education
    • Bachelor’s degree in social work and/or business-related field.
    • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in project management, leadership, or a related industry
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience with budgeting, resource allocation, and/or fiscal management
    • At least 1 year of experience in newborn care, birth, and postpartum doula care, and/or related experience preferred.
  • License and Credentials
    • Valid driver license and clean driving record
      • Reliable transportation
    • Valid vehicle insurance
    • DONA International training/certification or other Doula training preferred
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

Minimum Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledgeable in childbirth, newborn care, and postpartum care and supportive services;
  • Extensive working knowledge of community resources ;
  • Experience and proficiency with computer software, that includes: internet, Word, Publisher, and Excel;
  • A solid grasp of trauma informed care;
  • Must be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team;
  • Must have good written and verbal skills;
  • Must have good critical thinking and problem solving skills.

Travel Requirements:

Travel requirements for the position includes 90% local and 5% overnight.
