Overview

The H&K Group, Inc. is seeking a Risk / Safety Intern interested in the business management aspects of the Risk Team, the collaboration with the Safety Department, and management support tasks involved within our organization. Interns will work under the supervision of the Risk and Safety teams to learn and perform the following duties designed to inform and protect the employees of risks associated with the standard operating procedures and training requirements within the various work sites and locations of the H&K Group, Inc. The internship is designed for approximately 8-12 weeks within the summer months but may adapt based on the semester/trimester schedule of the selected candidate.

  • Responsibilities

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Assists with the development, implementation, and maintenance of the training and data analysis related to our employees within the field
    • Assists in the development, collection and maintenance of employee skills and certifications across all companies
    • Assist with the data analysis of skills and incident reporting as they relate to training opportunities within the organization
    • Assists with the preparation of documents, forms, and reports related to relevant regulatory standards based around training, certifications, and necessary skills
    • Performs duties related to the management of incident reporting and data analysis
    • Maintains a positive and constructive attitude and strives to build upon relationship with internal and external clients
    • Other duties may be assigned


    Qualifications

    Required Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Enrollment in bachelor or associate degree program from an accredited educational institution with a focus on general business management or other relevant degree of study
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to perform various mathematical activities to compute rate, ration, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs
  • Ability to problem solve using several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Able to work full-time during the upcoming summer of 2026
  • Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed (potential field ride day)
  • Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)
  • Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience

  • One or more years of study in the relevant degree program completed
  • Previous internship experience
  • Physical Demands

      • Stand, walk, sit
      • Use hands to finger, handle, or feal
      • Reach with hands and arms
      • Talk or hear
    • Occasionally required to:
      • Climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
      • Lift up to 50 pounds
    • Specific vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
