About This Position

Laboratory Assistant Supervisor

Department: Laboratory Analytical Services
Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Reports To: Laboratory Supervisor (2nd Shift)

About the Role

We are seeking a Laboratory Assistant Supervisor to support daily laboratory operations while leading and developing a team of Lab Technicians. This role plays a critical part in ensuring high-quality testing, efficient workflows, and a safe, team-oriented environment aligned with our “Good Place” culture.

You’ll work closely with leadership to maintain performance standards, improve processes, and ensure timely, accurate results for our customers.

What You’ll Do
  • Manage production backlogs and turnaround times to meet customer expectations
  • Support and oversee daily operations of LT1 testing stations
  • Train, coach, and supervise Lab Tech 1 (LT1) employees
  • Assist with troubleshooting, testing, and process improvements across lab stations
  • Partner with Quality to investigate testing issues and prepare reports
  • Support containment and resolution of fluid type changes
  • Lead weekly team/whiteboard meetings
  • Monitor communication channels (MS Teams, Outlook) to ensure timely follow-up
  • Promote and enforce safety procedures, including proper PPE usage
  • Contribute to a positive, accountable, and team-focused work environment
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For

Education & Experience

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 1–2 years of lab experience preferred
  • Experience with laboratory testing procedures and equipment preferred

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to train, mentor, and develop team members
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Teams, Outlook, Excel) and lab systems
  • Solid understanding of lab procedures, testing methods, and instrumentation
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • High level of reliability, accountability, and initiative
Work Environment
  • Laboratory and office setting within an industrial/manufacturing environment
  • Exposure to non-toxic dust, fumes, and noise typical of lab settings
  • Occasional handling of regulated or hazardous materials
  • PPE required (non-cleanroom environment)
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the workday
  • Ability to work a regular 8-hour shift, 5 days per week
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
  • Regular use of vision, hearing, and verbal communication
