About This Position
The Sports Dietitian Fellow will assist with the nutrition needs for the Football team and assist the Sports Dietitian in a variety of tasks to continue enhancing the sports nutrition program.
• Assist with nutrition needs for the Football team
o Nutrition education and counseling, body composition assessment and interpretation, travel nutrition, pre-/post practice and game nutrition, fueling station operations, hydration and Gatorade sweat testing, nutrition inventory maintenance, cooking demos, grocery store tours, etc.
• Oversee the following nutrition needs for the Football team
Development and execution of in-season nutrition education series for freshman
Maintenance of hydration intervention table for high-risk athletes
Nutrition inventory management
Pre/during/post practice needs for one position group (to be determined) throughout season
• Communicate and work with Steelers Executive Chef and kitchen staff to coordinate training table menus and ordering nutrition product.
• Assist with management of all football fueling stations, including assisting with training undergraduate and graduate volunteers.
• Assist in development and continuous improvement of nutrition education materials and resources
• Perform various administrative duties
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by the sports nutrition staff.
Bachelor of Science degree in nutrition or related field
• Registered Dietitian or RD eligible
• At least six months of experience in sports nutrition at the collegiate or professional level
• Ability to work non-standard work hours or work week, including early morning, nights or holidays
• Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds
