The Role
GrizzlyTrek is seeking one Industrial Tank Cleaning Project Manager to join our valued client's team at a SAGD facility in Fort McMurray, Alberta. This is a contract position on a 20/10 rotation with camp accommodations provided.
The Project Manager will be responsible for the on-site direction and execution of industrial tank cleaning operations, with a primary focus on warm lime softener systems. You will oversee a crew of up to 80 workers, managing all aspects of safety, scheduling, quality, and client communication throughout the project lifecycle.
What You'll Do
  • Direct and execute all phases of industrial tank cleaning operations, including warm lime softener and SAGD process vessel cleaning
  • Manage and supervise a crew of up to 80 field personnel, ensuring safe, efficient, and on-schedule project delivery
  • Develop and implement detailed project plans, work schedules, and resource allocation for each cleaning scope
  • Conduct daily toolbox talks, safety meetings, and hazard assessments in compliance with site and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate with the client's operations and maintenance teams to align cleaning activities with plant schedules and turnaround windows
  • Monitor project budgets, track costs, and report progress to senior leadership and client representatives
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with applicable permits, procedures, and environmental regulations
  • Oversee equipment mobilization, demobilization, and maintenance for tank cleaning operations
  • Identify and resolve operational issues in real time, adjusting plans as needed to maintain project timelines
What You Bring
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing industrial tank cleaning or similar industrial services projects
  • Proven experience directing large crews (50+ personnel) in oil sands, SAGD, or heavy industrial environments
  • Strong knowledge of warm lime softener systems and SAGD process equipment
  • Thorough understanding of confined space entry, hot work, and industrial cleaning safety protocols
  • Valid safety certifications: H2S Alive, First Aid, CSTS (Construction Safety Training System), or equivalent
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work a 20/10 rotation schedule in a camp-based environment
  • Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with SAGD facility turnarounds and shutdowns
  • NCSO (National Construction Safety Officer) or similar safety designation
  • Previous experience working in the Fort McMurray region
  • Familiarity with client management systems and digital reporting tools
Work Environment
  • Industrial SAGD facility setting with exposure to outdoor weather conditions year-round
  • Camp accommodations provided for the duration of the rotation
  • Work involves confined space entry, elevated work, and proximity to heavy equipment and process vessels
  • Full PPE required at all times while on site
  • Remote location: Fort McMurray, Alberta
