This leadership role oversees the clinical quality and professional development of a team of traveling nurses, ensuring exceptional patient care and compliance with regulatory standards. The Director of Nursing partners with internal teams, client facilities, and nurses to support onboarding, training, and performance evaluation. The role involves providing clinical guidance, coaching, and mentoring while monitoring risk, implementing corrective actions, and maintaining operational excellence. With responsibilities spanning clinical oversight, quality assurance, and staff development, this position requires strategic thinking, collaborative leadership, and hands-on involvement in day-to-day clinical operations. Travel to client facilities may be required, offering opportunities to engage directly with healthcare teams and drive continuous improvement. The environment is fast-paced, dynamic, and focused on delivering high-quality nursing services.
- Lead clinical review and onboarding processes to ensure nurses meet organizational and client standards.
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Account Managers, Nurse Recruiters, and client facilities to optimize traveler placement and assignment success.
- Provide coaching, counseling, and remediation to nurses to support safe practice and professional growth.
- Oversee end-of-assignment evaluations and implement remedial training or interventions as needed.
- Monitor workplace events and consult on high-risk situations to protect nurses, patients, and organizational interests.
- Serve as a clinical resource for staff, providing guidance, coverage, and mentorship as required.
- Support peer review, termination processes, and compliance with state Board of Nursing regulations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; multi-state licenses and travel nurse experience preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of acute care nursing experience, including multi-specialty or float pool exposure.
- Knowledge of healthcare staffing operations, agency practices, and quality standards.
- Strong conflict management, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- High personal and professional integrity, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, complex environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills to engage effectively with cross-functional teams.
