Position Summary
At the direction of the Administrative Director of Security or Assistant Director of Security, supervises security personnel including proper and timely completion of all post and other task assignments. Security Sergeant identifies security personnel concerns and incidents to the Administrative Director of Security or Assistant Director of Security. Security Supervisor is responsible for the appropriate and authorized use of all Security Department equipment including radios, cameras, Hospital vehicles, etc.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following:
• Patrols all posts and responds to calls from subordinates in situations demanding attention of supervisory personnel.
• Observes and assumes responsibility for the actions of Security personnel during his/her tour of duty.
• Observes determines and assigns a Security Officer to each incident requiring attention and will make certain proper investigation and reports as appropriate. Review all security reports prior to the end of their tour.
• Carries out all orders and/or directives from the Adm. and Asst. Director of Security and assumes complete responsibility for the security and safety of the Hospital, its employees, patients and visitors during the absence of the Director of Security.
• Advises the Asst. Director of Security of all arrests or unusual incidents that occur.
• Carries out instructions set forth in fire, bomb and disaster manuals until arrival of the Asst. Director of Security.
• Polices buildings, grounds, examines doors and windows. Restrains patients who become violent. Assists in visitor control. Make periodic checks of packages as directed.
• Performs other additional duties as per competent authority.
• Be familiar with hospital policies and procedures and demonstrates an understanding of the responsibilities of the position.
• Ensures all security officers sign in the roll call at the start of their shift and sign out at the end of their shift in their own handwriting to ensure accountability. Inspect the roll call.
• Prepare and conduct daily roll call for their assigned tour.
• Monitor all radio transmissions during their assigned tour.
Education & Experience Requirements
High school graduate or equivalent plus one year of military experience preferred.
Must have and maintain New York State licensing requirement.
Valid driver’s license required.
BLS certification through the American Heart Association must be completed within 90 days of hire.
De-escalation training completed within the probationary period.
Restraint training completed within the probationary period.

• May be exposed to or work around chemicals necessary to perform required tasks.
• Any hazardous chemicals the employee may be exposed to are listed in the hospital’s SDS (Safety Data Sheet) data base and may be accessed through the hospital’s Intranet site (Employee Tools/SDS Access). A copy of the SDS data base can also be found at the hospital switchboard, saved on a disc.
• Assignments may vary by location.
• May be required to drive hospital vehicle for business purposes.

Salary Range:$51,970.23 - $77,955.54
