About This Position
SUMMARY
The Pharmacist is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient dispensing of medications within a medical office setting. This role works collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, and administrative teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes, medication adherence, and regulatory compliance. The Pharmacist also provides patient education, medication therapy management, and clinical support to the care team.
Educational Requirements
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited program
- Active and unrestricted Pharmacist license in the State of Michigan
Experience Requirements
- Previous experience in retail, hospital, or ambulatory care pharmacy setting preferred
- Experience working in a medical office or clinic setting strongly preferred
- Pioneer Computer Software helpful

- Strong knowledge of pharmacology, drug interactions, and clinical therapeutics
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication and patient education skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a healthcare environment
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and pharmacy management systems

Medication Preparation and Dispensing
- Accurately review, verify, and dispense prescription medications in accordance with provider orders and applicable laws
- Ensure proper labeling, packaging, and documentation of medications
- Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols and error prevention practices
Clinical Collaboration
- Partner with physicians and clinical staff to review medication regimens for appropriateness
- Provide recommendations on drug selection, dosing, and alternatives when appropriate
- Support clinical initiatives such as chronic disease management and care coordination
Patient Counseling and Education
- Counsel patients on medication usage, side effects, interactions, and adherence to strategies
- Provide clear instructions tailored to patient needs and health literacy levels
- Address patient questions and concerns regarding medications
Regulatory Compliance and Documentation
- Ensure compliance with all federal and state pharmacy regulations
- Maintain accurate patient and prescription records
- Participate in audits and quality assurance activities
Inventory and Operations
- Manage medication inventory, including ordering, storage, and expiration monitoring
- Ensure proper handling and storage conditions
- Work with vendors and suppliers to maintain adequate stock levels
Quality and Safety
- Identify and resolve medication related issues or discrepancies
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives
- Promote a culture of safety within the pharmacy and broader clinical team
