Job Description
To manage the end-to-end buying process for LUBNA, ensuring the brand delivers commercially strong, trend-relevant, and customer-focused collections across modest fashion, occasion wear, and lifestyle-driven womenswear. The role is responsible for product selection, supplier coordination, margin delivery, stock management, and collection performance.
Responsibilities:- Brand & Collection Buying
- Plan and develop seasonal buying strategies for LUBNA.
- Curate product ranges aligned with LUBNA’s customer profile, brand DNA, and market trends.
- Support collection themes, colour stories, prints, fabric direction, and styling direction.
- Ensure the assortment covers key categories such as dresses, sets, baju kurung, modestwear, festive capsules, and commercial everyday pieces.
- Sales, Margin & Commercial Performance
- Own sales, margin, sell-through, markdown, and stock performance for the brand.
- Analyse weekly sales reports to identify bestsellers, slow movers, gaps, and replenishment opportunities.
- Make data-driven decisions on pricing, depth, quantity, and product mix.
- Work towards achieving intake margin, gross margin, revenue, and stock turn targets.
- Supplier & Vendor Management
- Source and manage relationships with suppliers, vendors, and manufacturers.
- Negotiate cost prices, payment terms, delivery timelines, MOQ, and product quality.
- Follow up closely on sampling, production, shipment, and launch timelines.
- Ensure supplier performance meets business expectations.
- Product Development
- Work with design, merchandising, and production teams to develop new styles.
- Review samples, fittings, fabric quality, workmanship, and finishing.
- Provide clear feedback on design amendments, colourways, prints, embroidery, and fabric selection.
- Ensure products are commercially viable, trend-relevant, and aligned with customer demand.
- Trend & Market Research
- Conduct market visits and competitor research across modest fashion, local brands, premium occasionwear, and regional fashion trends.
- Monitor customer behaviour, social media trends, festive demand, and lifestyle shifts.
- Translate trend insights into commercially relevant product opportunities.
- Inventory & Launch Management
- Plan product launches according to seasonal calendars, festive campaigns, and business priorities.
- Coordinate with merchandising, marketing, content, studio, and operations teams to ensure timely go-live.
- Manage stock availability and avoid overbuying, underbuying, or late deliveries.
- Support markdown and clearance strategies where needed.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with merchandising, design, marketing, campaign, content, studio, finance, and operations teams.
- Provide product highlights, key selling points, campaign focus styles, and styling direction.
- Support trading meetings with clear updates on performance, risks, and action plans.
- Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in fashion buying, merchandising, product development, or brand management.
- Experience in womenswear, modest fashion, occasionwear, or local fashion brands is preferred.
- Strong understanding of the Malaysian fashion market and customer preferences.
- Commercial Skills
- Strong sales and margin analysis skills.
- Able to interpret sell-through, stock cover, markdown, intake margin, and revenue performance.
- Good understanding of pricing, costing, MOQ, and supplier negotiation.
- Product & Fashion Sense
- Strong eye for trends, colours, prints, fabrics, silhouettes, and styling.
- Good understanding of modestwear, festive wear, and commercial womenswear.
- Able to balance trend direction with commercial viability.
- Operational Skills
- Strong follow-up and timeline management.
- Able to manage multiple collections, suppliers, and deadlines at the same time.
- Detail-oriented in sample review, product information, pricing, and launch readiness.
- Communication & Stakeholder Management
- Confident in supplier communication and negotiation.
- Able to work cross-functionally with design, merchandising, marketing, and operations.
- Clear, structured, and proactive in updates and problem-solving.
- Tools
- Proficient in Excel or Google Sheets.
- Comfortable with sales reports, assortment planning, and stock analysis.
- Knowledge of retail systems or product management tools is an advantage.
- Commercial yet creative.
- Strong ownership and accountability.
- Proactive, organised, and detail-oriented.
- Able to work under pressure and manage tight timelines.
- Good taste level with sensitivity to LUBNA’s modest, feminine, and modern customer.
- Confident enough to challenge product direction when the data or customer insight does not support it.
