This role offers a unique opportunity to help shape and expand a high-impact major gifts program within a mission-driven nonprofit environment focused on early childhood development and equity. The position is responsible for cultivating and managing relationships with mid-to-high level donors, with a focus on securing transformative philanthropic support. You will engage directly with individuals capable of significant giving, designing personalized engagement and stewardship strategies to deepen long-term commitment. Working closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams, you will help align fundraising efforts with organizational priorities and growth objectives. This is a highly relational and strategic role that blends frontline fundraising, donor engagement, and portfolio management. The environment is fast-paced, collaborative, and ideal for a development professional who thrives in building programs and meaningful donor connections from the ground up.

Accountabilities:
  • Manage and grow a portfolio of approximately 100–125 major donors within a broader prospect pool, applying strategic moves management principles to cultivate, retain, and upgrade support.
  • Develop tailored engagement and solicitation strategies for donors capable of giving between $1,000 and $25,000, with an emphasis on long-term relationship building and increased giving potential.
  • Lead donor cultivation activities including meetings, personalized outreach, stewardship plans, and proposal development aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and leadership to identify funding opportunities and design compelling donor-facing cases, proposals, and giving opportunities.
  • Support solicitation efforts by coordinating participation of senior leadership in donor engagement and stewardship activities.
  • Maintain accurate and timely donor records, tracking interactions, pipeline progress, and engagement strategies within CRM systems.
  • Contribute to broader fundraising strategy development, campaign execution, and best practice implementation across the development function.
Requirements:
  • 7+ years of experience in donor-facing fundraising, ideally within nonprofit organizations or mission-driven environments.
  • Proven track record of successfully soliciting and closing mid-to-major level gifts (5-figure contributions and above).
  • Strong experience managing donor portfolios and developing long-term relationships with high-capacity individuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders, including donors from varied socioeconomic, cultural, and ideological backgrounds.
  • Strong commitment to equity and inclusion, with an understanding of systemic disparities affecting children and families.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire donor engagement and commitment.
  • Experience working collaboratively across internal teams, including leadership, development staff, and external partners.
  • Proficiency in donor management systems such as Salesforce or similar CRM platforms, with ability to use data to inform strategy.
  • Self-driven, proactive mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
