Job Description
The Atlanta History Center is seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Director of Individual Giving to lead our individual philanthropy program, with a focus on annual giving, leadership membership, donor stewardship, engagement, and event planning.
Leads the strategy and implementation of the Annual Fund and Insider membership program while providing staff leadership for signature fundraising initiatives, including the Swan House Ball. This position is focused on creating a highly personalized, donor-centered experience through thoughtful stewardship, seamless benefit fulfillment, and meaningful opportunities for donors to deepen their connection to the mission and impact of the Atlanta History Center.
Key Responsibilities
Insider Membership/Annual Fund
Annual Fund Leadership: Execute the Annual Fund and Insider membership programs, focusing on acquisition, retention, and meeting revenue targets.Portfolio Oversight: Actively manage a portfolio of individual donors and prospects with giving ranges typically between $1,000-$10,000.Pipeline Development: Support senior leadership in the cultivation and solicitation of high-capacity major gift prospects. Partnering with development operations and marketing teams to execute renewals, acknowledgements, and campaign activities.Data-Driven Growth: Analyze performance metrics to track revenue progress and identify opportunities to improve the donor journey.Signature Event & Initiatives
Swan House Ball: Provide staff leadership for this signature fundraising event, serving as the primary liaison to volunteer leadership, including Ball Chairs and committees.Fundraising Drive: Direct activities for event sponsorships, ticket sales, and donor participation.Operational Oversight: Partner with the events team to ensure seamless planning and execution. Manage vendor relationships and budgets, including contract negotiations and fiscal reconciliation, by tracking expenses and invoices to ensure fiscal accountability.Donor Stewardship & Experience
Personalized Engagement: Design and deliver a donor-centered experience that ensures timely stewardship and meaningful connection to our mission. Event Planning: Organize and execute cultivation events throughout the year to deepen donor relationships.Service Excellence: Maintain a high standard of professionalism and responsiveness in all donor interactions.Qualifications
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree required & 5+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, preferably with a cultural organization.Proven Track Record: Demonstrated success managing donor relationships and soliciting gifts in the $1,000–$10,000 range. Experience with annual giving campaigns, membership programs, and donor stewardship. Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.Technical Proficiency: Experience navigating CRM systems (e.g., Tessitura or Raiser’s Edge).Communications: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of professionalism, discretion, and customer service orientation.Flexibility: Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends in support of events.Other RequirementsSatisfactory criminal background check.Satisfactory financial background check.Why You’ll Love Working HereAt the Atlanta History Center, we value your hard work and commitment.
