Description:

General Summary:

Acts as an administrative and operational resource for the HR and payroll departments providing coordination, tracking, and support across various HR and payroll functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to routine HR inquiries and direct employees to appropriate resources regarding policies and programs
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and company information at all times
  • Assist with recruiting activities, including preparing recruitment materials, posting job openings, scheduling interviews, and assembling interview packets
  • Support participation in job fairs and other recruitment events
  • Assist with outreach efforts with local high schools and community partners
  • Schedule and coordinate new hire orientations, including preparing materials and managing logistics
  • Assist with scheduling and coordination of employee orientations as needed
  • Maintain and update employee records within HR databases
  • Track and file acknowledgements for company policies and procedures
  • Monitor and track years of service milestones and recognition programs
  • Prepare and generate routine HR reports
  • Assist with administration of employee benefit programs, including 401(k), health plans, and leave of absence
  • Support employee benefit enrollment and coordinate with benefit providers as needed
  • Provide basic information to employees regarding available benefits and direct complex questions appropriately
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
  • Track completion of safety trainings and maintain accurate compliance records
  • Assist with filing and maintaining injury/incident reports and Workers’ Compensation documentation
  • Support scheduling of safety meetings and training sessions
  • Assist with auditing bi-weekly timecards for accuracy and completeness prior to payroll submission
  • Provide backup support for payroll processing tasks as needed
  • Collect and review payroll-related data to support accurate and timely processing
  • Assist with payroll preparation for year-end and new year processing
  • Maintain and track task sheets and step increases for operations employees
  • Participate in training and development opportunities to build HR knowledge and skills
  • Provide general administrative support to the HR team as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:

Education & Experience

Minimum education requirements include a four-year degree resulting in a bachelor’s degree in human resource management, business, accounting or a related field and 2 or more years related work experience within the human resources and payroll fields. Demonstrated maturity in deliverables is a must.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Ability to understand and respond appropriately to requests and use independent judgement to take appropriate action and/or provide appropriate information.
  • Must have good organizational skills with the ability to take direction, prioritize tasks and work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Demonstrates quantitative, critical thinking, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to present information clearly and in a manner that is understandable to managers and employees, and to answer questions.
  • Ability to work with and maintain confidential information.
  • Knowledge of the electric industry and REC operations and business objectives to act as a strategic partner and knowledgeable resource to business groups.
  • Skills in communication, both verbal and written to effectively communicate HR programs, provide training, resolve employee relations issues, as well as work with business groups on their strategic objectives.
  • Skills in developing and delivering effective presentations.
  • Ability and responsibility to work safely alone and with others while following REC safety rules, certifications, and procedures.
  • Ability and responsibility to ensure security procedures are followed including immediate notification of potential incidents.
  • Knowledge and understanding of employment laws, human resources theory, and legal requirements to act as a subject matter expert to core groups.
  • Strong MS Office Suite Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize time/workload to accomplish tasks and meet deadlines.

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, walk and stand; talk both in person and by telephone; use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds. Vision abilities include close and distant focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. May on occasion be exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels.
