Shift Supervisor for A Shift at Aalberts Surface Technologies Oshkosh Inc – Oshkosh, Wisconsin

Responsible for the efficient, cost effective, and safe operation of the assigned shift. Instructs assigned workers with proper heat treating processing methods performed in a safe manner achieving a quality product. Performs any special work as assigned by the Production Manager. Lead by example, setting a strong "Safety and Quality First" image, support the company "Mission and Value Statements" and philosophies described in the Employee Handbook. Performs work as required and any or all of the job duties relative to various other positions in the department. Continually monitors Safety procedures, quality and quantity of work. Directly responsible for the safety, morale, motivation, manpower, training and development of the efficient operation of the assigned shift.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

· Be well aware of company policies, procedures and systems

· Follow the production schedule created by the Production Manager

· Ensure the workplace safety at the start of the shift

· Take care of manpower planning for the assigned shift

· Follow the company operating procedures to make sure customer products are processed properly and meet the specification

· Make sure to test the parts on time to ensure product quality and avoid large rejections

· Provide all the necessary tools to the direct reports for them to function efficiently

· Work towards achieving the targets for key performance indicators in areas like safety, quality, and productivity

· Participate in continuous improvement projects like cost reduction, productivity improvement, ergonomics etc. for the plant

· Will be a team member for solving problems

· Keep the plant floor well organized

· Administer disciplinary activities

· Work with Team Leader in employee evaluations

· Other duties as assigned

· Assume full responsibility of the shift, including management of staff, management of production and quality targets, and ensure smooth running of production processes

· Oversee responsibility of the quality of product processed within the shift in line with company’s quality systems, processes, and procedures

· Monitor equipment and complete thorough walk-arounds per company standards

· Manage, develop, and motivate direct reports

· Ensure Health & Safety rules and regulations are adhered to during shift

· Problem solving and troubleshooting skills are used to ensure all team members can identify root causes and take fast effective action to resolve possible problems

· Work closely with other Shift Supervisors to ensure production handovers are effective

· Ensure training skills are met for current and future demands of the shift

· Take an active role in the company’s continuous improvement plan to achieve plans for future growth within the company

Maintain high level of timekeeping and prioritization skills

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS / ABILITIES:

· Ability to plan and manage a complete heat treating manufacturing processing operation. Adhere to company policies and procedures to maintain high quality standards and achieve quantity goals to maximize profit and return on investment.

· Must be able to use a computer with the following programs – Word, Excel, Outlook.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Associates Degree preferred or equivalent experience.

· Requires extensive knowledge of metallurgical processing techniques, organizational, leadership, communication and supervisory skills with a minimum of five to seven years of related experience.

A shift is: 2/2/3 schedule, 6am-6pm.
