About This Position
Position Summary
The Senior Accountant / Accounts Receivable Manager oversees all member billing, accounts receivable, and related accounting functions for the country club. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data, supervising receivables processes, and supporting overall financial operations, including general ledger activity and some accounts payable.
This position requires a hands-on leader who can manage detailed accounting tasks while contributing to process improvements and maintaining the high service standards expected in a luxury club environment.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Receivable Leadership
- Oversee the full-cycle accounts receivable function, including member billing, collections, and cash application
- Review and approve monthly member statements (dues, dining, events, and ancillary services)
- Establish and enforce credit and collection policies while maintaining positive member relationships
- Monitor aging reports and proactively manage delinquent accounts
- Resolve complex billing issues and member disputes with professionalism and discretion
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of member account balances
General Accounting & Financial Oversight
- Prepare, review, and approve journal entries and general ledger activity
- Lead month-end and year-end closing processes related to receivables and revenue recognition
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and ensure timely resolution of discrepancies
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and management reports
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and audit processes
- Maintain compliance with internal controls and accounting policies
Accounts Payable Oversight
- Provide oversight and backup support for accounts payable functions
- Review invoice coding, approvals, and payment processing for accuracy
- Ensure timely vendor payments and strong vendor relationships
- Assist in cash flow management and coordination with leadership
Process Improvement & Team Collaboration
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and system efficiencies
- Assist in implementing best practices for club accounting and financial controls
- Train and mentor junior accounting staff as needed
- Collaborate with department heads to ensure accurate billing and financial reporting
Working Conditions
- Professional office setting within a private, luxury country club
- Ability to work extended hours during month-end, season, and audit periods
Qualifications
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- 2+ years of progressive accounting experience (country club, hospitality, or private club experience strongly preferred)
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
- Experience with club management/accounting systems (e.g., Jonas, ClubEssential, Northstar) preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
