The psychiatrist will provide general inpatient psychiatric care to male and female adult patients (Over the age of 18). The spectrum of clinical duties includes, but is not limited to, providing acute inpatient psychiatric treatment to an adult psychiatric population with diverse diagnoses including major affective disorders, psychotic disorders, PTSD, personality disorders and substance use disorders. Candidates must be highly motivated, flexible and able to work as part of an integrated team who will provide sound diagnostic and therapeutic care to Harrington Hospital patients. The psychiatrist will be expected to participate in the Psychiatry on-call schedule and work as a part of a collaborative team to ensure the patients complete continuum of care.
Hiring Range: $175.00 - $225.000 Per Hour

I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Performs psychiatric evaluations, prescribes psychotropic medications, documents, and follows patients throughout their course of treatment while on the inpatient unit.
2. Maintains records, prepares reports, and composes correspondence relative to work.
3. Directs and coordinates medical activities related to patient care.
4. Works with outpatient mental health providers, substance abuse directors, the outpatient and Inpatient Medical Director the hospital medical staff and nursing administration.
5. Adheres to the best psychiatric and clinical practices as learned in self-directed continuing education materials.
6. Works cooperatively with the Chief of Psychiatry and Senior Leadership to ensure compliance with all state regulatory and statuary requirements stipulated by the Department of Mental Health, Joint Commission, the Department of Public Health, BSAS and CMS.
7. Participates in the medical staff continuing medical education program.
8. Supervises Advanced Practice Clinicians as assigned by the Medical Director of Inpatient Services.
Standard Staffing Level Responsibilities:
1. Complies with established departmental policies, procedures and objectives.
2. Attends variety of meetings, conferences, seminars as required or directed.
3. Demonstrates use of Quality Improvement in daily operations.
4. Complies with all health and safety regulations and requirements.
5. Respects diverse views and approaches, demonstrates Standards of Respect, and contributes to creating and maintaining an environment of professionalism, tolerance, civility and acceptance toward all employees, patients and visitors.
6. Maintains, regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
7. Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.

II. Position Qualifications:
License/Certification/Education:
Required:
1. Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine.
2. Must have valid DEA
3. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in Massachusetts.
4. Board eligible/ Board certification in Psychiatry.
Experience/Skills:
Required:
1. Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Preferred:
1. Experience in an inpatient setting preferred.
Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
Department-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.
