The People & Culture Manager (P&C) will lead P&C operations at the Waterford facility, serving as a strategic partner to plant leadership and overseeing all P&C functions, including employee relations, talent acquisition, compliance, training, and workforce development. This position requires strong leadership capability, a hands-on approach, and experience supporting both hourly and salaried teams in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Partner with plant leadership to develop and execute P&C strategies aligned with operational and organizational goals.
- Advise management on workforce planning, organizational structure, and talent development.
- Support change management initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
Employee Relations & Culture
- Foster a positive work environment that promotes communication, collaboration, and employee engagement.
- Serve as the primary resource for resolving employee concerns, conducting investigations, and supporting corrective actions.
- Ensure consistent application of company policies and procedures.
Talent Acquisition & Retention
- Assist with recruiting efforts for hourly and salaried positions.
- Develop strategies to reduce turnover and attract skilled talent.
- Oversee employee onboarding, orientation, and integration into the facility.
Compliance & P&C Administration
- Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws, company policies, and safety standards.
- Manage P&C reporting, audits, and document retention requirements.
- Assist in the oversight of processes related to FMLA, ADA, workers’ compensation, and other leave programs.
Training & Workforce Development
- Identify training needs and coordinate required programs, including safety, leadership development, and skills training.
- Support succession planning and career development initiatives.
Compensation, Benefits & Payroll Support
- Administer corporate compensation programs and support annual wage reviews.
- Assist employees with benefits inquiries and open enrollment activities.
- Partner with payroll and corporate P&C to ensure accurate employee data and timekeeping.
Safety & Plant Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with the plant safety team on incident investigations, communications, and proactive safety initiatives.
- Participate in plant committees, leadership meetings, and cross-functional projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of progressive P&C experience, with at least 2 years in a P&C leadership or management role.
- Strong knowledge of employment law, P&C best practices, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience supporting a manufacturing or industrial workforce.
- Excellent communication, decision-making, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to influence and work effectively at all organizational levels.
Preferred
- P&C certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR).
- Experience working with union environments (if applicable to Waterford operations).
- Knowledge of HRIS systems and data-driven P&C decision-making.
Working Environment
- Mainly office environment but on occasion (when needed) go into the plant
- Occasionally wears proper PPE in the manufacturing area (shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection)
