Job Description – Custodian

SUMMARY:
At Alabama Goodwill Contract Services, our Mission is to help change lives through the power
of work. We serve our community by providing employment development services and
placement assistance for employment. Our programs are supported with profits
generated through the sale of donated goods in our Retail Stores.

• Ability to communicate with customers and coworkers.

• Ability to understand and follow oral instructions.

• Comply with all safety rules, standards, and regulations.

• Maintains the interior and exterior of the facility in compliance with our image and safety standards.

• Cleans interior offices, classrooms, break areas, and lobby.

• Dusts, vacuums, empties trash, and cleans windows and tables.

• Cleans and stocks restrooms.

• Performs custodial work utilizing sound safety practices (i.e., lifting, use of equipment, floor signs, etc.) and reports accidents to the team leader.

• Transports trash to the compactor.

• Inspects exterior of premises; keeps sidewalks swept and blown of debris; keeps grounds and parking lot clear.

• Monitors vendor services, landscape maintenance, window service, pest control, and property sweep.

• Maintains the custodial checklist.

• Inventories custodial supplies and equipment; notifies the Contract Site Supervisor when a reorder is needed.

• Reports damaged or non-working equipment to the team leader in a timely manner.

• Additional duties as assigned.

• Ability to work at multiple facilities, as assigned by the site supervisor.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Some custodian experience is required.

• Ability to move, bend, stoop, reach, and stand for extensive periods of time.

• Ability to turn from side to side.

• Must be able to lift 50lbs.

• Reliable transportation.
