Senior Data Engineer in Switzerland at Jobgether

This role is focused on designing and delivering scalable, high-performance data solutions that enable organizations to transform raw data into actionable insights. You will work at the intersection of engineering, analytics, and cloud technologies, building robust data pipelines and architectures that support both operational and strategic decision-making. Acting as a trusted technical expert, you will collaborate closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams to understand business needs and translate them into efficient, production-ready data systems. The environment is highly collaborative and innovation-driven, with strong exposure to modern cloud ecosystems and distributed computing frameworks. You will contribute to end-to-end data solutions, from ingestion to visualization, ensuring quality, scalability, and performance. This is a hands-on engineering role with real impact on how data is used to drive business value.

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and architectures supporting complex data processing and analytics use cases.
• Integrate and manage data from diverse sources, ensuring efficient, reliable, and reproducible data access across systems.
• Develop and optimize distributed data processing workflows using modern big data and cloud technologies.
• Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to support machine learning model development and advanced analytics initiatives.
• Monitor, test, and improve performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency of data platforms and pipelines.
• Build dashboards and data visualizations to support business insights and operational decision-making.
• Work closely with clients and stakeholders to translate data requirements into robust technical solutions.

Requirements:

• University degree (ETH, university, or university of applied sciences) in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
• Several years of professional experience in data engineering or similar technical roles.
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, with solid experience in data pipeline development and data architecture design.
• Hands-on experience or strong familiarity with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Hive, Airflow, and distributed databases (SQL and NoSQL).
• Good understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools such as Kubernetes is an advantage.
• Strong analytical mindset with a passion for scalable and sustainable software engineering.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
• Fluency in German and English is mandatory.
